Who all uses them or have tried them? Your thouhts? I'm thinking of picking up 2 or 3 when I decide on a set of sticks. Probably going with the trophyline double step sticks.

I see the ones that EWO sells, but unless I'm just looking over it I can't find a weight limit. Not worried about the cable snapping, moreso pulling out of the crimped eye.

So, I have some lone wolf compact sticks that have cable aiders on them. I bought the sticks second hand with the aiders already attached. I can tell you I already had it in my mind that I wasn't going to like the aiders. I had used various aiders prior to trying the cable ones, some homemade from tubular webbing, others from rope with hose slid over the rung portion, I didn't care for any of them. I got the LW sticks and gave them I shot, I like these. I used them 2 dozen plus climbs the last couple weeks of our season.

I like the LWCG cable aiders better. They are stiffer and coated with PVC. EWO are coated with Vinyl and squeak with some boots. LWCG only come with 5/16” mounting holes though.

Also, with cable aiders in general if you stretch them out spacing wise coming down can get a little hairy cuz the lugs on your boots will grab them and not let go…lol

I prefer to use a moveable ladder style aider. Even if I just use it on the first stick.

My plan would be to use my ultimaider 2 step on the bottom stick, and cable aiders on the remaining. I'm not very comfortable on an aider, but the cable aiders intrigue me due to the stiffness and ease of getting a foot in and out. At least it looks that way from the videos and comments I've seen.

So...Cable Aiders = the aider for people that don't like aiders? That's kinda what I initially thought when looking into them.

Like I said you space them a little to far apart and on the climb down your boot gets stuck in it you will be cursing….lol

Also, when you climb up sometimes they go over to the side and feeling for them on the way down can be a challenge.

Other than that cable aiders are great.

That might work for me then. Even though I would use sticks to go up, I would still rappel down just stopping to collect my sticks on the way.

I would skip the cable aiders and try a Versa Aider first, I ran the Trophyline double step sticks for a season with just a Versa Aider and it was pretty slick, my cable aiders now live in a tote and I just carry an extra stick.

If you are rappelling down anyway why not just get a 3 step moveable aider? Only will need 2 sticks.

Climbing on the aider is when things feel the most dicey for me. Kickout, unstable, etc. I'm ok with it near ground level on my first move. Once I get up there is when it's bothersome, especially as the tree narrows. I was thinking a cable aider may feel more stable or secure. Stiffer.
