Cam cleat on EDP

Has anyone added a cam cleat to an EDP platform? I plan to no stick with the edp and aider. The only struggle I have is the cam buckle and making moves to advance the platform. While I certainly will get better with practice, I would think a cam cleat would be the easiest solution if possible.

I made a platform that I use as a 1stick. Put a cheap Amazon cam cleat on it, rated at 300lb?? Looks like the weak link is the tiny bolts. I drilled a hole in one cleat, put a small bolt through from under it, put a rubber well nut on the bolt finger tight, and then a nut on it to lock the well nut and nut together. I use that as a way to open the cleat to get rope out. I used amsteel full bury 1/4 inch I think. Its thicker when they run it back through the rope. From hang free.
Just hang, put my foot under top brace on platform, end of rope in my hand and feel for the well nut, move it and platform is free.
I'm new, but this is the easiest way I have tried to climb, with the lightest and least fiddling.

Thanks for the info! I'm putting together some things to try this out. Going to see if I can reuse the versa hole and leave it available should I turn back, though I dont expect to.

What problems are you having with the cam buckle?
I guess I'm just looking for an easier, more efficient move up the tree. The cam buckle is by all means solid and does its job well. When the platform is cammed over the buckle can be a pain to release sometimes, sure its just a matter of jamming it hard to release but when reaching down from above it'd be nice to have an easier way. I also like the idea with a platform of not having to shimmy the strap up the tree. With a cam cleat I could just release the rope and reposition the platform to height without fighting bark and hang ups. Removing a cam buckle strap from the versa button isn't as quick. I do think I could get better with practice of course.

Going to try the cam cleat mod and see how I like it. Decided to go with rope instead of amsteel.

I wouldn't want to reach down under me to get a cam buckle loose. Thats why I put the rubber well nut tab on the cam cleat. Take the platform off tree, push yourself away and put platform under tether and it holds to the tree so u can put the rope back on. Quick and quiet.
I bought 1 inch strap from a surplus store in the fabric section. Used that for my aider. Cheap and I could adjust it to the length I wanted. Used 1/2 inch automotive heater hose for steps just a little wider than my boots.

Not an edp but yes a shaffer cam cleat. 9.5 gillie rope.

Interesting. I see you left the versa on to 2nd pic. How do you like that compared to what looks like a scaffold not to attach the rope below the cleat on the first picture?

Both have the buffalo hitch on the bigger platform I left the versa button on is all. The smaller platform has a much shorter post is why I attended the rope below the cleat. Both work very well and I have used both as a sort of one sticking method. I now 2t/c up and the cleat works equally well.
