From several yrs of watching and observing this major buck crossing from afar (350yds) should provide a great shot opportunity. I’m excited since this bachelor group has been here for several yrs and the same public hunting pressure will be driving those bucks deep back thru a two mile cattail swamp. I’ll try and keep this post updated thru the seasonE12A538B-89EA-472B-A429-9052CAFF06F9.jpeg

Love being out in the swamp…I’ve been taking out 12x12 one inch thick cement blocks and placing them in the deep creek…it’s very mucky on the opposite side to firm up my footing. Only need one moreB1003896-5713-49E1-8C17-311937DB0283.jpegF922F4EA-0819-42FC-8E74-EFA50C805D07.jpeg

Great idea!
I love these challenging spots that keep the average guy from venturing into these wet marches. I’m very careful but last year on my first hunt I actually feel thru a sunken pocket where a water funnel was running down to feed the creek underneath the bank. Got very wet and black muck which smells like rotten eggs was not in my plans. Like I said it’s very challenging but secluded from the lite hearted

This particular buck broke off his right antler beam during the first week of November last yr. He’s a lot bigger this year but he’s traveling the same rub/scrape line as last year which is the key…these bucks have never has been disturbed in this particular spot…he was there with a bachelor group all day yesterday but never walked in front of this camera. But kept on tripping a camera 100 ft away across a creek were I placed my new pre set…I’ve never used Ozonics before but pulled the trigger on the HR500 a couple of days ago to increase my days in the field. If anyone uses one please feel free to leave a comment about your experience using one of there units

What I’m discovering is the bucks prefer to remain on the other side of the creek and walk that edge…as I’ve said the security cover is so thick that the bucks just remain in this bedding spot and stretch their legs a couple times a day. My shot would be 45 yards but I’ll wait it out for one of them to cross the creek and give me a 30 or less7FE62325-7C3D-4119-9002-687197D00C9B.jpeg

been back in Michigan catching up on things around the house so I got my first hunt in yesterday and I missed a 43 yrd shot…this buck was a Jim-dandy…135+ couldn’t pass him. He actually jumped my string and I barely went right over his back. It was 11:20am and this crossing heats up every year. I’ve had cameras here for 5+ yrs and never seen or generated a picture of him before. Again you can’t always trust your camera intel. I’ll be hunting hard the rest of the month…keep this updated

All day sit yesterday…saw one doe @ 7:30am…snowed all morning and then some dusting later on during the day…the lack of movement yesterday told me most of the bucks are in lock down…hard to be in their bedroom and not see anything..got into my stand @ 5:45am…it was a nice clean entry although it’s a hard walk in thru muck and cattails. Going to let it rest for a couple of days and do a repeat of yesterday…
