Where the skys are so blue!
I wear camo pretty much every time I hunt, but it's mainly to hide from other hunters. I take avoiding attention from homo sapiens almost as seriously as I do deer. I've had some negative experiences in the past with good natured hunters "helping" me hunt my spots. I learned my lesson quickly, and now don't even tell my own father where I hunt. Wife knows just in case she has to call search and rescue.

But I'm the looney toon who hunts in a Honda with National Audubon Society stickers on it and walks off the side of the dirt rode to keep folks from seeing my footprints.:) Did I ever tell y'all about the mock scrapes I used to make close to the parking lot?

First and foremost, as previously mentioned, good fieldcraft will trump good camo anytime. That being said, I have run the gamut when it comes to camo clothing... starting with the cheap stuff you find on sale in the bargain bins at your local sporting goods store to the more expensive stuff I chose to wear now (mainly Sitka). My father taught me a lesson when I was young, and it wasn't until I got a little older in life did it start making sense - buy once, cry once. Being a large American (6'2'', 260lbs), I always felt like I stood out while on stand, and no matter how still i sat, i felt like I was always getting picked off. Then I started using the EVII pattern from Sitka and I honestly feel more confident on stand now and feel as if I can get away with more wearing the EVII. For what it is worth, I am a believer in Sitka camo patterns!

Confidence. If you have confidence in what your are wearing it will pay off. When I am confident in my set up I move a lot less. If I am moving less it is less likely the deer will see me know mater what I am wearing.

I thought I was the only one who purposely walks down the center strip of a two track. It's so ingrained in me now I find myself doing it even when I'm not in an area I hunt. :)
Yep. Only problem is if it's tall and grassy during the summertime, the ticks will EST you alive. Picked 63 off of my legs once during pre season, before the Light and Love of permethrin came into my life.

Only 60 of those were ticks. 3 were little spy robots trying to figure out your spots....and that little thing with the blinking light in your kayak?...just ignore that. It's nothing.

I have been using plain clothes and my left military clothes for a couple years now. I shot a couple deer last year in the early season in a pair a gray shorts and a drab green tshirt.... camo, IMHO is another item that the market uses as a crutch, marketing their pattern or product as the game changer, the next big thing that'll get you deer.. camo as we know is a relatively new thing and can be forgone without reducing success... all of this is a matter of hunters opinion, if earth tone colors are what suits you, do it! You will start to see things a bit differently once you realize how little effect itll have on your ability to kill deer

I’ve tried everything with decent success but when I started hunting naked my success rate went way up.
Well, that's one way to keep people out of your spots. Maybe I've been going about it wrong this whole time. Instead of sneaking around and hiding from competition, go buck nekked and wave enthusiastically at everyone you see.

"Hey big boy, you wanna come sit in my saddle with me?"

I know I'd never go back to that spot again!

Reminds me of hunting the WMA by Bayou LaBatre. Beer cans, needles, and used condoms. WAAAAYYYY to many shirtless meth heads cruising around in POS Hondas and Nissans.

Finally quit going, even though there was some decent hog hunting there.

In all seriousness, I don't mind wearing khaki, grey, or brown at all. Early season I wear a green UA or Nike performance t-shirt pretty regularly. When it's 85° with high humidity and not a breath of wind back in the swamp, comfort overrides camo.

Up at my lease or on other private land I'll wear blue jeans and a random t-shirt if I'm gun hunting. To be honest, the only animals that I worry about wearing camo to hunt are birds and squirrels. Wood ducks can see abstract thoughts and sound waves, and squirrels can DEFINITELY see better than deer.

Nope, I also avoid leaving footprints at all costs.
