I have my new saddle set up purchased with the exception of a carabiner between my Amsteel bridge and my tether. What would be a a good carabiner I can purchase on Amazon that is safe, easy to use (newbie), doesn't cost a fortune and is light. Thanks in advance!

I use black diamond hotforge or liteforge. I’ve also used mad rock super tech. I didn’t buy them on Amazon but they can be purchased there.

This is hands down my favorite!! Smooth , quiet & a visual reminder of locked/unlocked
I own 3 of these and absolutely love them. All Petzl locking ones are good

Metolius bravo. Lighter and stronger than the attaché. They have a key lock and screw lock version. Screw lock is the way to go. I have the petzl listed above also and much prefer it with a webbing bridge but like the compact size of the bravo for everything else.

Any of the above are good but for gawds sake please don’t go with cheap as can be wingdongnonamebrand biners 6 for $13. Get a name brand biner. I personally use Mammut HMS style biners and safety biners but my biners also do double duty for rappelling and bridge work, ymmv.

Are you using a prusik or a rope grab (such as a ropeman or kong duck)? That can make a difference in which you use. Metolius makes the smallest lightest carabiner I have ever seen that is climbing rated. They are only around $8 from REI. I personally like a little larger carabiner. Petzl makes several ones (although a little more costly) also the tatical d style carabiners are the strongest and one of the least likely to roll into a side loading position. SMC and rock and rescue both make and sell fantastic d shaped screw gate carabiners. Rock and rescue’s are a tad bit lighter.

does anyone use the Petzl Attache on a atc device? I have 2 of these and love them, just curious if safe to use for that application.

I have been using the rock exotica auto locking Hms style carabiners. Its a little more effort to open but I really like that it locks the gate immediately everytime. Ive tried a few different autolockers and these seem to be the smoothest/quietest action and are made in the usa which is always nice.

I don't use the ones I have on my ATC. I use the Petzl OK Oval with my ATC. The Attaches I use for my linesman belt on both sides.

Definitely go name brand. If you aren't familiar with reputable brands look at a climbing/outdoor store and ask. Anything on arbsession should be good as well!
