Cheap alternative saddle

So the price of testing and certification is dependent on how many units they sell? How many of these knock offs I wonder they will sell? How many Krestel’s will they sell they are half price of the pretzl you posted the link to. I hope the sell tens of thousands to recoup there certification money

That harness isn't certified because it's a Chinese knockoff. Climb on it if you want to, but like the others I wouldn't.

Some of the RC harnesses you're referring to are of a much simpler construction so they can build a less expensive certified harness. That "Arborist" saddle is a lot more complicated construction with all the metal hardware and related connections. In order to certify all of that equipment it gets very expensive. Just look up the cost of DMM or Petzl rings by themselves, let alone the rest of it

I ain’t hunting out of any of that crap. I hunt out of an Ernie’s outdoors linesman’s and a sitdrag. I don’t overpay for any of my equipment so it would say pretzl on it either.

I wonder about my sitdrag? Maybe with all the sells they have been generating they can get there’s certification for use off the ground.

No what im saying is a company like black diamond who makes a ton of gear can pump out a ton of harnesses per day and be very cost effective. The rc harnesses are minimalist in construction when compared to a arborist saddle, That and the fact that they sell so many of the rc harnesses allows them to sell them so cheap. If black diamond sells a harness for 50 bucks it probably costs them 10 dollars to make it. Plus the costs of a ansi certifications is nothing to a company if their size. The sit drag will never be rated for climbing, It would have to be totally rebuilt.

if you are using a sitdrag, sew on a simple webbing belt to keep it on you and just use the sitdrag for your linemans belt loops.

I recently switched to one of these harnesses paired with a sitdrag

because I liked those kestrel buckles and hated getting my old rc harness on over hunting layers.

This combo is pretty sweet. Poor man's kestrel, but probably a little more versatile having a belay loop
Is this harness a nut pincher? I
I have an alpine bod and it will kill the sac area if loaded wrong

I imagine if you managed to get the beans up under a leg loop it would be. Its basic with no padding though.
Just so easy to put on with the buckles. I prefer to walk with the just the waist belt hooked up and hook up the leg loops at base of the tree....leg loops tend to try to pull everything down walking

im working on a idea right now for a saddle for my own use made out of all already manfactured systems. I could use some measurements off from a guidos web xl the width of seat and back the bridge size the other dimensions I have no way of measuring. i was going to buy a Guidos web but he is out of business. so i thought what the heck build my own. hope to share with you guys here on how to assemble the components.
