Cleaning saddle and ropes

I use a small amount of Dawn and soak and gently agitate in the tub and then hang to dry. Worrying about the smell on something you handle all the time doesn't make sense to me. All of our gear that we don't wash all the time quickly smells very human. I don't use hunter soap on life support because they are all proprietary formulas that often allude to enzymes or something. None of that weird stuff is touching my life support ropes or my saddle. I do use hunter soap on my clothes though and when I shower before a hunt.

What's everyone do to keep their saddles and ropes clean and sent free?
Being that your saddle and ropes are on outside of clothing I wouldn't see the need to wash them that often. I would just keep in a tote with hunting clothes. And just keep activated charcoal or baking soda in tote with them to absorb any odors.

I haven't washed either of my saddles yet but I'll either use DeadDownWind or one brand or another of 'non-allerergic' no perfume and no dye laundry soap.
Thats all I ever use for any of my clothes. I hate smelling pretty...
