Climb rite Spurs with ultra lite pads

I recently bought some new Spurs with the ultra lite pads and I just need to double check something. Each pad could be put on either side left or right. There is a biggest section on each pad. Should that go in front of your leg or behind.

Each of has a r for right and l for left but I keep seeing pictures online of people having them turned both ways. Hopefully this isn’t too confusing and somebody knows what I’m talking about. Thanks

Maybe I’m making this to hard. My old set of spurs had huge leather pads and pretty much swallowed your whole calf.
