Climbing harness with lineman belt loops

I'll see what size I have. I'm a 35 waist. I've worn it over thermal overalls. When you are wearing thick clothes, it is much more comfortable.

I just got the Safe Tech harness today....NICE
as noted, no quick release buckles on the legs but it is much more secure as well

I've never owned a climbing harness but, just from the looks of them, I"m not expecting much comfort. It will be used as a fall arrest device to save my bacon if the SD decides to crap out, which I think is doubtful anyway. I'm just thinking that I'd prefer to adapt the harness to be used with lineman's belt, rather than the SD.

justsomedude, maybe you can answer a question about BOD sizing? I'm a 38 waist which puts me toward the upper end of an XL. Do you think there will be a problem with wearing it over late season heavy clothes?

So here's one example of a chinese-made harness (one size fits all) that has the lineman's loops on the side: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IEXQMF6?psc=1
Anyone actually used one of these chinese-made harnesses? It has the CE label showing decent ratings but can this be trusted to be legit?

I don't know much about these things but the impact force (fall arrest I'm assuming) seems like its low to me, considering open and side loaded carabiners are stronger

There is a lot of generic chinese climbing gear on eBay and Amazon. I think you are CRAZY to buy any of that for a life preserving piece. If you stick to Black Diamond, Petzl, Metolius etc, you know you are trusting your life to gear that is being used every day by millions of people.

On my Metolius Safe Tech, I feel a little sketchy using the gear loops for LB but they are very strong. And there isn't a scenario where your LB is taking a FALL. It is a positioner. If you use a "Squeeze" system on your LB as discussed in that other thread, you still aren't really falling. Just hanging. And if I was doing that, I would add a little backup connection to the main hookup on my harness in case my LB failed.

Spend an extra $30 and you won't worry

I've decided to let someone else be the guinea pig on the chinese-made safety gear. I'll just hope my new Kestrel shows up before opening day.
