What does everyone paint on there sticks and squirrel steps to see them while climbing in the dark?

I’ve only done it twice in the dark so far. I’ll try my red light next time.

Here's my advice since you only have done it twice. Don't be in a hurry, even if its getting to be pink light. Take your time, secure each sticks/step, STAY CONNECTED to tree at all times with lineman and/or tether. Same with descending - there is absolutely no reason to get in a hurry.

I’ve only used climbing steps at hunting Height twice now. Seems like it takes me forever to get up the tree, I don’t have a fluid system yet. Been using RCH- Sit drag. Got my H2 Saddle yesterday. Can’t wait to try it tomorrow. I guess you pretty much need to use a light for a morning set up in the dark. I haven’t tried climbing up in the dark yet.

Thanks to the folks responding on this thread. I have been struggling a little with early morning set ups in a saddle (still dark), haven’t sacked up and asked for some advise, good to see the response. I am used to knowing where my pre-set stands are, so now its really not the saddle that’s giving be concern, its climbing in the dark, which is something I am not used to. Currently use a red lamp.

I, too, use a red headlamp to set up in the dark.

The more familiar you are with your whole system, the easier it gets. As was said before, take it slow and be safe. Slower is quieter anyway...
