Does anyone use a bottom half of a climbing stand with a Jx3 hybrid or any other saddle?

Last year, I used a climbing platform with my diy saddles. This year bought helium stick and a scout for top stick. Much, much quieter. I even stealth stripped, spray foamed, and bed lined the climber platform. It is noticeable quieter than stock, also, noticeable heavier than stock. Working on a diy platform because the scout is much too small for sits over 3 hours.

At that point, just bring top half as well.

You are correct. I just wanted to not spend the $ last year and still get my feet wet in the saddle game. Glad I did, but my bank account has suffered!

sir,
I have 14 summit vipers. Making the change to the hybrid because of my age and the distance some of my trees are from my truck. I priimarily hunt the Ouachita mtns in Arkansas which are steep and rugged. At 71 I still climb and hunt the mtns.
Using climbing sticks are not for me. I can carry the platform and hide it close to where I hunt. Instead of carrying my badlands superday pack, I can use the hybrid as a pack and stand.
When I posted the above I just wanted to know if anyone else has done it.

I would preset/hide all of those vipers and have an easy walk into the mountains. You would loose the whole “360” thing but I think it would be worth it to not have to carry a climbing method and/or platform. I would be willing to help you preset/carry stands in at some point if you would like as I hunt the Big Piney RD of the Ozf-NF exclusively.

Owning 14 Summits must put you in a very small exclusive group of people, that’s a fleet. I think I would be comfortable climbing with the platform; of course I’d keep it tethered somehow to the JX3 and always consider what you might do if it fell down a few feet to the end of that tether. One thing you might consider in that situation is having a ring of steps to support your weight if you need to (emergency) head down, and that ROS could also be installed once you were at height to provide rotation around the tree without worry of kicking the summit out. Once the platform was in place I’d definitely strap it tight either way. A climber will obviously reduce your tree selection somewhat. Also, and sorry if this too is obvious, I’m more comfortable hunting low in the JX3 since I’m attempting to setup at least partially obscured by the tree trunk to the expected deer action. I’d rarely feel confident in the Summit at 12’ but probably could hunt the JX3 not much higher than that the majority of the time if you wanted... My $0.02

Thats what i have for yrs. Hiding them close to where i was going to climb. Dont go to them until conditions are right. Pull them out during gun season. Carrying them is no problem just trying to avoid excessive wear and tear on my joints. Only deer I dont quarter is ones killed very close to home.
