Climbing sequence up and down the tree with LW sticks?

I'm a first time hunter and saddle hunter, and I need some advice on how to bring up my sticks up and down the tree without having them wind chiming attached to my saddle. My LWs are full length with double steps and stealth strips.

So my plan so far was install the first two steps and come back down for the other two. This is where I'm not sure of a safe and clever way of bringing up the other two. Should I try fastening some kind of strap with the cam buckles?

Going back down seems even more complicated. I'm really not sure of the best way to secure my platform and sticks as I climb down.

I am using the original but silenced cam buckles, have the LW stick carry strap, and a ridge runner platform.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Here’s my process:
1) When I get to the tree, unload all sticks (4 Lw sticks) from my pack and hang first 2 sticks. I don’t use an aider and feel safe hanging the first 2 sticks without a lineman’s belt (I don’t stretch them far apart, hence why I use 4 sticks vs 3).
2) Attach bow to my pull up rope, which is attached to my saddle.
3) Secure the remaining 2 sticks to elastic loops I have on molle on saddle, one on each side.
4) Grab my pack (with my platform inside) and I’m up.
5) Attach lineman’s and get to climbing.
6) When I get to height, I hang my pack first. Then grab platform from pack and hang that.
7) Tie tether, attach to bridge, and get on platform. Finally disconnect lineman’s.
Hope this helps. Be safe!!

That’s pretty much it exactly, my sticks are also stealth stripped & they don’t make contact w/each other. I put one on each hip 1st molle loop.....

This is my adapted no dangle off saddle/body method I took from the video below. Looks like you have the OG buckles so you can use his method to a T. I have mine stealth stripped and as I come to the tree I want to climb and I'm already wearing my saddle with pouches containing tether and lineman's rope: 1. I hang the first two sticks 2. Put my bow pull up line ony bow 3. Hang the next two sticks on my top stick's step with paracord attached to top step of last 2 sticks (the last two are held together with a plastic buckle and strap used to lash all 4 together when walking in). 4. Get out lineman's rope and step on first stick. 5. Undo the two hanging off the step and put the third stick on the tree. 6. Hang 4th stick on 3rd stick step. 7. Climb up and hang 4th stick and then head on up to hang ROS, platform or step on top stick platform. If I hang my sticks off my saddle or backpack I always bang them off something. I bang them less by hanging them off the steps of my other sticks because they are in front of my face and I can see what I'm doing. Like this:

I like these better than dangling sticks from paracord loops... run paracord somewhere along the length of your stick, adjust depending on how you want it oriented, and then slide that into this clip attached to molle. I would imagine that if you had a spot for two molle clips per side, paracord on a stick hitched into two clips instead of one might be even less stick swinging. I was trying to get away from climbing a tree with two aluminum spears pointing at my torso, so I climb with the sticks oriented perpendicular to my body, hanging from both sides at my waist. Eastern Woods Outdoors has these clips for $2.99 each.

I use 3 lw sticks typically. Mount the first to the tree, and suspend the other two from molle loops of saddle—one from each hip—using tarp bungees. Works perfect. Up the tree in one trip.

Tarp bungees also second as a way to keep sticks stacked tight together during transport.

Thanks, everyone! For tomorrow morning, I'll try the method described in jtaylor's video and hang the sticks off the steps as I go up. One newbie mistake I can see myself making is either dropping the stick or having the loop slip off the versa button. I do like the idea of having the sticks oriented perpendicular as I climb up as well. I'll try that one if I struggle.

Also, after I install my platform, should I keep on my lineman's belt, connect my tether to the bridge, and then step on to the platform? I was thinking stepping on to the platform with just the lineman's belt could be unsafe if something goes wrong at that height.

You just gave me an idea of how I can swing my carrying strap from back to front, but I could see my backpack making the motion difficult.

Looks like Lowes from the screenshot.

YES!!!

Hook up both tether and lineman belt before stepping onto the platform. Good luck!

Been using LW full length sticks for years. I have their carry strap, but I'm sure you could fashion something from one of their straps. Anyhow, I put first stick on tree, put second on loosely from ground, clip platform to back of saddle, put LW carry strap over my shoulder and swing sticks to the back. Climb up first stick, move second stick up and attach correctly, then climb up & repeat with 3rd & 4th (if needed). Hang platform, then while standing on top stick, connect tether, then step onto platform. Once I verify it's set correctly, then I re-adjust tether, remove linesmans, hang pack & bow holders, hang pack, retrieve bow, hunt.

Made it up and down in one piece! I was literally quaking in my boots learning to slowly trust my sticks. Getting up would have been absolutely impossible for me without the double steps. It took a good while to do figure out how to install the Ridge Runner. I even dropped it once and had to go back down!

It'll only get easier!!!
