Hey fellas,

Put together a little video on my hunting setup for this year. It is by far the most compact and lightweight system I have used. Still tweaking some things but thought I'd share with the group. Big thanks to you guys on here for helping me look at my setup in a whole new light.

PS - There's some hunting recovery footage with one of the bucks I took with my recurve in a past season towards the end. Hope you guys enjoy.

Awesome video, great shooting! You made it up that tree in seconds.

Thanks! Some of the climb is edited out because I was just showing the overall process. From the ground to having my bow hung and camera arm set up it takes about 12 minutes. By the end of the season I should shave a few minutes off. I will probably always climb deliberately with the spikes to avoid any mishaps.

Thanks for watching!

Great video, I also really enjoyed it. I really like your method of attaching your predator for the climb. I hadn't thought of that previously. I may have to explore that method for use with an alternate pack I'm considering.

Great video! I'm loving your content!

You should definitely make some gaff guards out of Instamorph.

Here's Another pro-tip for hanging your Predator at the top of your climb. A gear tie makes life much easier.

Enjoyed the video. Congrats on the buck. I used a piece of reinforced hose tied to a 1/8in bungee I think and tied to my spurs. They never leave my spurs. Pull down and put over spurs while not in use and pop off leaving them hang while climbing. I don’t like the way I modified my spurs. Hadn’t had a chance to hunt with them yet. Just yard practice. Do you mind showing closer pics of your spur mods?

Awesome idea. Little things like that make setting up much smoother and pleasurable.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

@swampsnyper, crazy you say that!! That’s exactly what I had in mind. Thought I was the first person to think of that! Glad they work.
That or G2 outdoors solution will be money. Thanks for the suggestions, @g2outdoors, that will definitely make fastening the platform easier.

Here’s a closer picture of the spurs. This is before I painted them. I also swapped out the lower buckles after this pic for some straps that I had from a TOW missile carrying case I had laying around... I’ll try to take a pic this week of how they are now.

@swampsnyper another little thing that a bungee cord can help with is securing the strap on your platform. I have one tied near the end of my strap and when I wrap the strap around the platform to put on my pack, I use the bungee to keep tension on the strap and keep the whole ensemble nice and tight.

Do you have a picture of how your bungee works?

I have my spurs set up very similarly. For what it’s worth, my buddy is a lineman and he was concerned about our 1 inch buckles on the bottom. He was concerned about the load on them. I’m on the fence, I still have them on but it got me thinking. If that strap goes bad at hight it will be unruly trying to get down with one foot or attempting to reposition it correctly with no strap.

This is not meant to be the safety judge and jury type of post, just letting you know feedback I got from a pro on the exact same set up. Like I said, I haven’t changed out mine yet but I’m thinking deeply on it lol.

Solid point. Safety police is very important. I would not recommend anyone do these types of mods without knowing the risks.

Too bad I don't hunt any private land because I would like to try that method to climb.
I hunt both. And seen that method years ago going up to lock on stand. Eventually the tree suffers enough damage to die. So I wouldn't use that method at all
