I just got a set of climbing Spurs, I have never used them before. Does anyone have any advise on climbing with them?

Trust in them to perform the task for which they were designed. The only thing you have to do is make sure that the relationship between the spur and the tree doesn’t get too acute. Use a lineman’s rope/belt. Practice.
 
Point your toes toward the tree keep your ankles in on the trunk. Keep you feet vertical they don’t take side pressure. They will kick out on you.
