So, for years while hunting, instead of gloves I've been using a hand muff to keep my hands warm (also doubles as a small gear holder, i.e. cell phone, can call, milkweed, etc.). For you guys with a few years of saddle experience, do/have any of you used a hand muff and have there been any issues what with the bridge at the waist and all. Thanks

I use a hand muff too. You can simple hang it right off your tether or bridge, or wear around waist or neck like you normally would. Haven’t had any issues using a muff with a saddle.

Several guys on hear use muffs. There was a thread on it a couple days ago. It’s a little warm here most of the time. When it does get cold I usually have to pee. A freshly filled pee bottle keeps my hands warm for about an hour.

I need to get one this year. Is the cabelas extreme 2 any good?

Get whatever one you can get your hands in and out of easily. I have huge hands. Combine that with a release for my bow, and most muffs suck. I hate the muff on my iwom, and actually have to take part of it out. My hands don't fit in there, and if I do get them in, its quite painful when you lose all the blood flow to your hand.

Best muff I have is an old cabelas thinsulate muff. Honestly I think it was like $10. Super cheap. But its thin, light, and has the biggest hand openings ever. All you should need is to block the wind from your hands and they will be plenty warm. Last thing you want is your hands to sweat.

Should be able to just put it around your upper waist and adjust the slack whether you want your arms/hands above or below your bridge. Won't fall off since your saddle will hold it up, and won't get in your way anymore than anything else you have on since it will be contained by your set up.

I have same problem with most muffs. My big meat hooks make it super hard to get hands in and out of easily.

I don't use a muff, but the heavy jacket I wear (when it actually gets cold in The Sip) has pockets oriented just right for putting them in along with a couple of hot hands and I am good to go.

I normally just put a celestron battery handwarmer in my pocket. It is probably my favorite piece of gear for cold weather hunting. I used to use hot hands, but after using the battery powered one, i wont go back.

Some fleece some bungee and a Mrs who can sew and you can make your own fairly cheap I would think. Ots funny you mentioned it though because that's exactly what I just thinking about to get my set up finished.

I have the older version and it’s been great for me. I haven’t tried the newest one, but, with a hand warmer in it, I only wear under armour liner gloves and don’t have a problem down to 0 degree weather. Since ditching a wrist strap release in favor of a thumb trigger it is even more comfortable.

This is exactly how I've been doing things for a while now.
