Combat Belt & Saddle

I was thinking of combining my combat belt into my waist band on my saddle permanently in lieu of the zip tie's. The combat belt provides good support around my waist, keeps my saddle bags upright, and allows my saddle to sit a bit lower on me keeping me from having to readjust and also gives extra comfort. I feel this could be the next step in improving saddles. Thoughts & Comments?

I have a similar tactical-style belt that I used around my treestand harness for some packs and a big ass knife. Haven’t gotten my saddle yet to see if I need it or want it, but I rarely use a treestand without it.

Same here with my tree stand. It really helps transfer that load to your hips which makes a big difference in lieu of it all being on your shoulders.

Seems a bit like the Aerohunter Evolution.

Same thing I said in the other thread. AH had it pretty darn right with their first saddle. If I were going this route - I'd be scooping up an EVO in the classifieds for 125 bucks instead of spending 200 on a saddle, 50 on a belt, and going backwards. Even if you do this with a sit drag you're at best breaking even on money.

The advantage to the new saddles/backbands is the ability to put the backband up underneath your shoulders, and drop it down out of the way for a a shot or just to adjust. If you're always leaving it in the small of your back, the EVO has this dialed in.

Agree with this 100%. I made a backband and really only use it when I remember I have it with me and on those days I usually have it higher on my back up near my armpits.. I don't miss it on the days I don't have a backband with me; YMMV.

These two threads are not exactly the same, but thanks for linking. All one needs to do is ask.

Looks exactly the same? See pesqimon’s posts in that thread.

Thanks for the feedback. This will be my first season saddle hunting. I bought some condor mod straps to do away with the zip ties.
