I love my Kestrel and will never get rid of it. It was my first saddle and definitely won't be my last. I don't know if I'll be able to pick up the mesh addition to their line this year or not but I will definitely own one eventually. Besides the fact that Aero Hunter makes a quality product, Bobby spent a ton of time with my daughter showing her the ropes, if you will, at SaddlePalooza. He is a Super nice guy. There's no way I wouldn't support any Endeavor and he's taking part in. Definitely not going to tell my wife how excited I am to find out some more information about this new saddle Aero Hunter is going to release. It might just give her a heart attack!

I luv a guy that will impart his knowledge on a child.

I just bit the bullet....I just ordered the Kestral...I have the Evo and I like it...but I'd like to see what all the hubbub is about. So how long do you expect it will take to make it to my door?

Wait... is the mesh version of the kestrel out already? Or did you order a 1st gen cordura kestrel.

I did not see the mesh style saddle located on the aero hunter website

My Evo is for sale but not my Kestrel is not. Bobby went out of his way for anyone that wanted knowledge about anything he had knowledge of and that’s a lot more than saddles. He spent time with everyone that wanted any of his. Thanks Bobby for all the questions answered I had many. He can climb a tree with those funny looking things too. WMA Spurs.

I never did get to play with those. I'll be better prepared next year and hopefully will not get so overwhelmed with so many toys at my disposal. Actually I think Saddlepalooza would have to be at least a week to fit it all in. Maybe even two.

Obviously I did not order the mesh version...or did I?!!!

We need a sleeping bag style body suit to go with the kestrel? I hunt a lot of hot weather and love the new mesh options coming out, but I also hunt some 10F weather.

It's insulation that attaches to the backside of the saddle, not a whole body suit.

@Boudreaux and I recorded a podcast about the Kestrel last night that will launch on Thursday, and we made sure to touch on the mesh. I was one of the testers last year and did a lot of hunting out of it as well as walking through rough cover.

Compared to the current cordura version, the mesh requires less sewing and has different buckles, both of which will noticeably drop the price and weight. Also, lineman's loops will be positioned a little further forward and molle loops will be slightly looser for easier attachment of accessories.

Sounds like some great improvements. I sure could have used a mesh Kestrel on those 90 degree days last year. Great job guys.

They do sound like good improvements. Good for new tribes. Competition driving innovation and pricing.

Classic Dave T.

You know someone calls my name and asks me a question, I responded. Sorry my response doesn't meet your idea of a proper response. I replied to the man's question. I have stated numerous times on here and on my YouTube the kestrel is a good saddle, especially for beginners. I was asked for feedback, and one by one the responder shot down my suggestions. That's one of the primary reason I seldom post here anymore and instead answer questions through PM as there are an isolated few that discredit anything anyone says that doesn't fit their thought pattern. I still remember the time the same person that responded to my Kestrel input (which they asked for) denounced G2 when he posted the thread about camouflaging his sticks and preceded to give us an attempted biological lecture on how deer see - which was full of holes BTW).

However, to appease you (although I doubt that is possible) here is what I recommended to new tribe:

1) Get rid of the heavy metal leg buckles.
2) Move the lineman's loops forward as it is awkward in the dark to hook up safely when going around limbs
3) Go to a better Bridge without the huge knots (Amsteel or strap)
4) Get rid of all the Molle loops, a few well placed is far better
5) Come up with a quick detachable bag to carry gear

A quick check of the new saddle from G2 ADDRESSSES ALL MY INITIAL THOUGHTS/CONCERNS after having used the kestrel for a full season. So for me, while the Kestrel is a well made hunting saddle, the new option by G2 looks to be far SUPERIOR and HALF the PRICE. Now if that doesn't float your boat, I recommend simply moving past my posts in the future.

That’s what I like about you Mr Dave is you don’t care what people think you speak your mind. Thanks for sharing you ideas and creations on here I personally have used many of the ideas you’ve had and appreciate you sharing them with people. While this site is getting bigger and I hope it doesn’t go in the wrong direction I can see the handwriting on the wall.
Enough BS I for one thank you I know you don’t have to share.

Thanks - I tend to lurk more now days; gives me far more time outdoors doing what I love. My time is precious to me and I usually have far better things to do than arguing with someone that disagrees with what I say or do. I also am not here to impress or convince anyone of anything I do, I share what I have found works best for me; they can take it or leave it. I learned a long time ago "Other people's opinion of me is none of my business"

I understand. We still like hearing from you and finding out what works for you. Hope you'll continue to share. I especially like your scouting tips. I know I can see those on your YouTube channel, but anyway, hope to hear from you like we used to.

@DaveT1963 if my post upset you that was not my intention. I’ve already ordered the mantis it is priced real close to the kestrel. I was just pointing out that they have made changes and while they didn’t cover all of your suggestions they covered some. I was all for the leg buckles being gone but wish they would have kept the waist buckle like it was. I’m with you on the bulk of the bridge but can understand why a company would only use a rope that was climbing rated. You could save some bulk with eye splices but that removes the ability for the end user to adjust the length. Please keep contributing I enjoy reading your post.

Not at all Eric. You asked a legit question to me. None of us have to agree/disagree on everything. There are just a few that no matter what I post they feel the need to correct, criticize or educate me on why I am wrong --- when they do I tend to go look in the freezer or my wall ;)
