$225 TYD. PayPal F&F.

I am a first-year saddle hunter and started out a few months ago. I wanted to order a kestrel or mantis, but the wait times were so long that I decided to just get a sit / drag and RC harness set up ready to go so I could practice before season. I ended out stumbling across a used JX-3 and I really like it. So, I plan on using the JX-3 with squirrel steps this season.

So, that leaves me with a complete sit/drag set up that is only going to serve as a backup.

I know a lot of guys are trying to get into saddle hunting and might not have time to wait for a saddle to get to them to give them time to practice before season, so I am going to offer up my whole back set up to someone so it can see some use in a tree, maybe get it bloody…instead of spending the whole season in my garage.

I’m not trying to turn a profit, just make back some of the money. I’m going to list out everything that’s included and a link to each item. I’m also going to list out the cost of the whole set up if you bought it all new so you can compare to what I’m asking.

If you’re brand new to saddle hunting, my set up was meant to pretty much mirror what DIY hunter did in this video:
with a few simplifications/changes.

Here is what is included:

  • ($55) Tethrd Tree Tether with Black Diamond Carabiner. This is a great tether with a spliced eye. The biner I have is a little different than the one they have in the picture but its black diamond locking and of same quality: https://tethrdnation.com/product/tethrd-tree-tether/
    • Note: On the tether I added a second prussik with another biner. So, you’ll use one to hook into your sit/drag bridge and the second to hook into your RC harness just like DIY hunter does in the video.
  • ($60) Tethrd Lineman’s Belt with Black Diamond Carabiner. This is a great lineman’s belt also with a spliced eye. You'll girth hitch the eye around one lineman's loop on your RC harness and use the biner to hook up to the other. Again, I have a locking black diamond caribiner that is a bit different than the one they have but its of the same quality. https://tethrdnation.com/product/tethrd-lineman-belt/
  • ($32) Sit N Drag. I don’t have the sit n drag webbing anymore or those cheap carabiners that came with it. I created a bridge out of rope and made it adjustable. It is girth hitched on one side and has a prussik loop connected with another black diamond carabiner (The $32 Sit N Drag price here does not include the climbing quality biner.) https://www.amazon.com/EZ-Hunter-Sp...+hunting+seat&qid=1563927491&s=gateway&sr=8-1You may want to make your own bridge. Plenty of options out there….
  • ($95) Fusion Custom Centaur Harness: Here is the link to the one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Fusion-Climb-Centaur-Harness-Climbing/dp/B01IO0WZQ4. However, I had them add two climbing rated (5,000 lb) lineman’s loops. So, my price was a bit higher than one they say on Amazon. But, the lineman’s loops are a critical part of it. You’ll see them in the pics. These are not just gear loops, these are rated lineman’s loops. I ordered this as a 34 waist. It seems to me it would fit 34 – 38. Maybe larger. If your much smaller than 34, it might not get tight enough. 32 might be good but no smaller.
  • ($130) Podium Platform – Out on a limb. I can’t find a link to this but you can see the pics attached. This is where you’d put your feet.

All the biners included are black diamond auto-locking except for the one on the lineman’s belt which is black diamond screw lock. I like the screw lock on a lineman’s belt b/c its easy to use one handed. I like the auto-locking everywhere else for added safety.

I’ve practiced with all this stuff so it’s not “out of the box” new, but it’s barely been used.

The only thing you’d need to add is whatever climbing method you want. You may want to modify the Sit N Drag for additional comfort. There are many DIY options to improve comfort, but I found it to be pretty good as is. Again, the bridge is pretty personal item, you may want to change that out. But this is adjustable so it will be a good start for you to figure out your optimum bridge length and then maybe replace with your own. You might want to add knee pads to save your knees when sitting against the tree.

DO NOT USE THE SIT/DRAG BY ITSELF OFF THE GROUND, YOU HAVE TO USE THE RC HARNESS FOR SAFETY. Watch how DIY sportsman hooks it up before he releases his lineman’s belt.

See pics below. Please ask questions if you have any. I’d rather this sit in my garage then go to someone and have them pissed off.

So, according to my math, this cost me $372 (not including the price of a few added biners). I’m asking $225 for it TYD. Paypal F&F.

Feel free to post up questions or PM me. I really don’t want to sell it in pieces. I’d rather the whole thing go to a guy who is trying to get started and has nothing….
