I'm looking to get into saddle hunting but I have a few questions which are probably frequently asked questions but what the hell I'm going to ask anyway first question I'm 6 foot 265 pounds how well does a saddle work out for bigger guys is it comfortable and does it offer decent support for your back since I do have a few back pain issues

Iam 5' 8" 270lbs. I use a kestrel and 16 pack of wildedge stepps. I use the backband. I am a setter not a leaner. I use 2 stepps on each side for platform. I have a perch for stepps. The perch to me is made more for the leaner. I have had my hipp and both knees replaced. The kestrel is real comfortable for me sitting with the backband.

6’2”, 260 here. I have the mantis and it’s comfortable for me. It does take some tweaking to figure out what’s comfortable for you, as I’m sure they all do.

6’2” was 260 last year. No issues with pain or discomfort. And i did some all day sits too. The fact I can change up my sitting positions was key.

I don't have the size at 192 lbs, but do have a torn L3. The saddle is more comfortable for me than conventional stands and you can tweak your setup throughout a hunt and stay comfortable. Some will say you do not need a back band, but I would try one if you have back issues, it helps me over a longer hunt.

I used my Tethrd backstrap and it made a difference in comfort for me

Not necessary but nice to have

It weighs nothing so no big deal for me to keep it in my Tethrd Sys ES hauler’s side pouch

I'm the same as the OP - 6ft, 265ish. I use a Tethrd Mantis with the back strap and it's no problem. I've got knee problems and switch from leaning to sitting. Haven't done an all day sit, but when I get down after a few hours it's because I'm out of time not because I'm hurting.

I use a back strap

The back pain issue was one of the main reasons that I first got interested in saddles. I had surgery a couple of years ago and haven't been able to stay very comfortable in stands ever since. From what I'm hearing, I have optimism that the saddle hunting will help to alleviate some of those issues.
