We've had coyotes around regular since I was about 14. That's when you really started seeing them along with bears. Ive burnt a many spring turkey hunting. Of all the years I've turkey and deer hunted and all the freakin coyotes I've killed I've never seen them move in here around our farm like they have this winter.

Some fall/winters I'll kill 6-7 but this year is different. Not sure if a few females have all had good litters and they made it or if is some kinda food source here that they prefer over other farms and ots drawing em in but seems nobody is really having issues or seeing any but for some reason they are here and thick.

Theyve woke me up howling several nights a week since about october 2/3am or I'll hear'm when I get done milking at night after I get done and get home and getting wood in in the dark. I was rounding the dairy cows up 1 morning in october at 315am to go hunting and was 4 coyotes setting on hill above my dairy cows watching 2 skunks in the cows bedded. They had sprayed so im.sure the coyotes pushed them into the cows and they wouldnt get in the cows to kill them. They just walked off as I burned their eyes out with my streamlight setting on the 4wheeler.

We had a skiff of snow bout 3 weeks ago and could see 3 sets of tracks bobbing and weaving in and out around where cows was or had been night prior. I figure they was after cows after berth as we have been calving recently but no calves have been bothered between our beef cows and the last of my dairy heifers calving before the harder winter months. Dad shot 1 from his back porch by the last full moons light in pasture just the other week and killed another above his house in pasture circling above the tater cellar last week. Theyve gotten bold!!

Today made the 12th dog that's died. We heard 3 Saturday night about 830pm when I was just getting home from milking. Then heard several light up last night to the train at a distance. Im not sure what the deal is but i feel we still got more to come just odd how theyve moved In here and so plentiful of the worthless suckers

There Is pic of 1 from today and then another from few years back. Thought had more pics of some other cool ones but guess I deleted them. Dad Killed a half black 1 last week have killed several red ones and very blonde ones.

I was watching a video yesterday that talked about the coyotes eating the poop of calves that are still nursing. The poop is very high in protein and nutrients. If you can find a spot where they are coming through the fence set some snares. I have a friend that uses snares and is very effective. He doesn’t use foot hold traps anymore because the snares work so good.

Agree - Trapping is very effective and you can cover any open areas or crossing areas to your farm 100% of time vs hunting at certain times. Hopefully, this works for you! Good Luck!

I been using snares to fellers. My bad left that out and didnt realize it

I read articles which explained that coyotes react with a lot more pups to heavy hunting pressure/increased mortality. It seems weird though that you are seeing so many when your neighbors are not. It could be very well related to them wanting to eat the feces of the calves. Maybe try setting up trail cams if you have some. Good luck hunting

Would love to catch a black coyote. Never heard of one ever being seen or caught in my neck of the woods.

Depending on the region, I would venture a guess that it's not all coyote. Almost all eastern coyotes have a certain amount of wolf and dog DNA, the actual percentages will vary depending on where they are from.

Definitely have some dog genetics in there but would still love to get one.
