wonder how thick the felt is on it? Will it compress down in your pack without deforming? interesting idea

My stepdad swears be a reflectix pocket that holds a super hothands and attaches to his boot by elastic. I had thought about a custom build via @always89y but never pursued it. The original company is out of business and was just at local hunting shows in the 90's, early 2000's.

Yeah, pics or more description of this would be great.

I like my arctic shields but they are somewhat bulky and as i've stated here too many times....they just aren't shaped right

Went through old pics on phone, but no luck. Next time I am able, I'll snap some pics. It'll be awhile.

@raisins Here are some quick pics I took today. I was thinking the relectix was visible, but the side with the Hot Toes graphic is thick and insulated with something. The other side with the elastic is not insulated. Looks like it is 4.5" x 5.5"

I mean he puts them on at the stand. He doesn’t wear them in.

I saw somewhere once online advise to just tape the hot hands to the boot.

That didn't work because the air was such a great "sponge" for heat. The hot hands just "burned" away to its solid state while barely feeling warm to the touch. I just stared at my cold toes that had electrical tape and a hot hands on them.

I'm guessing what you posted provides enough of an environment that heat builds up and the outside of it touching the boot feels warm. It would make sense if the reflective fabric is on the outside between the air and hot hands.

I'll do something experimenting fabrics and see if I can get something to work for me. Definitely a lot handier to carry and put on than full boot blankets. It's mostly my toes that get cold, so a sort of outside the boot toe cap with a hot hands seems like a plan.

Thanks for posting the pics/idea. I tried googling the product, and it seems they aren't made anymore. If anyone else knows of a source, please let me know. If not too expensive, I'd buy them just to try.

This looks like a much handier thing than boot blankets. What's the best source of reflectix insulation for small projects like this? A soft sided lunch bag? Window visor for a car?

For an ultralight, cheap option, I've considered some of the thicker reflective emergency blankets used to face fleece or something. Could probably fabric glue it and then put some stitches in. Might be durable enough for this use.

Sandwiched between fleece that might work pretty slick,

I tried something made for cyclist but it didn’t work with the super hot hands only the hand size and it wasn’t great.

I thought about reaching out @always89y or @DanO but haven’t yet.
