Got mine today also. Agree that the tongue is weird.
Got them. The tounge is a little goofy, but they fit well. They compare equally to my hanwag boots.

Hanwag tatra light gtx. They seem to have the same sole stiffness. I wear a size 9 and 1/2 shoe and went with a size 10 in these boots to accommodate darn tough wool socks. I also have a narrow foot with a high arch so I do not mind a smaller tow box that both of these boots have reviews about. They do seem to have a narrow sole. I live in Wisconsin and need a soft tread due to the cold and ice. I also snowshoe with my boots in the winter to get back to my scouting areas. The only thing that I don't like about the Hanwag, is the heel locking grommet. It seems like when I am climbing sticks or aiders, or loose ropes, the metal hook catches on things. I pointed to them in the pictures I'm trying to upload. Tapatak is being weird about me uploading images right now.Which Hanwag model and in what ways? Fit, stiffness, quality, insole comfort, etc?
Always interested in how boots compare across brands and models. If you have the time, it’d be interesting to have your thoughts. Thanks.

My 3rd pair crispis have summit nevada n now these. Have caught them all on deals. These are giving me fits to break in unlike the others. Wore these now 4 times an can not wear them more than 3 4 hrs before right foot starts to hurt in small toe area n bone behind them.I got them too. Figured $60 for a pair of even half way decent boots is a good deal, so why not. I planned to put them to use for stuff like yard work, hiking with my dogs, light scouting maybe, etc..
I was really surprised at how well they fit my feet. I'm closer to a 2e than d, and was worried these would be too narrow based on reviews, but they are roomy enough for me. Toe box is ample in light hikers. A 13 in this style boot is about true to size; I can nearly fit an entire penny on the insole in front of my big toe. My mountain boots are 14's, and have full penny spacing to ensure no toe stub while downhilling. There isn't anything special about the insoles; they aren't as terrible as I expected, but could be improved. (I have custom orthotics in my hunting boots, hard to compete with those). The insoles do have good lateral stiffness yet flex easily in the forefoot, so there's that.
I actually really like the tongue and lacing system. It makes the uppers a bit goofy to lace but I feel like there is a lot of control in where pressure is applied and very little tongue interference.
My main criticism is they are too low and unsupportive a boot for anything other than gradual slopes, imo. But, I haven't put them through any testing, so it's more of an impression.
As others have said, thanks for sharing the link. These are no doubt the nicest $60 boots I've owned.
