OK guys winter is starting to take it's toll on me. Between shed hunting(nothing yet), work and sewing I have been staying busy though. So far I have made 5 sling type items. I have made 1 taller height way, 1 out of just webbing, 1 taller in 2 pieces with separate runner attachments, 1 with MilSpec mesh, 1 with opener heavy mesh. The one requiring 2 runners was comfy but not user friendly in my book...not what I'm after. I have settled on the larger mesh. It sat pretty good but pinched a bit so I took some 2" hollow webbing and inserted a piece of garden hose into it. Then I sewed it onto each side of the sling to keep the sides from closing together (hope I make sense). A HUGE improvement but the hose isn't stiff enough I think I can do better. Today Fed Ex dropped off my camo webbing....not necessary but what the heck. So far I have went thru 2 spools of heavy outdoor poly thread! Here are some pics for you. Understand the 2 pics of my are just prototypes so when the real deal is made it will be done right. And it will have a climbing belt/waist belt with steel buckle. I like the cobra and raptor buckles but am concerned about them being noisy...rattly. Can anyone answer if they are noisy?
Ok fire away with any positive or negatives...what do you think? Any ideas?

What's the deal with the one on the bottom... The one with a piece of mesh for each cheek? Is that hole for an emergency class 2 download?

Squirrel bombs!

I was wondering that same thing. It's the saddle version of those old pajamas with the trap door.
Seriously, you've been busy. Looks like you'll have the perfect saddle soon. Post more pics and thoughts of each one, one you get to hang in them. Please

Shaun

Yes I know that one looks a little goofy but with 2 runners it was pretty comfy...and yes would work out good for nature call moments...squirrel bombs! Honestly I had screwed up when I cut the mesh and thought what the heck and sewed it up.

Interesting idea on the dual bridge. Does it interfere with the drawing of a bow?

Bahahahahahahahahahah
Class2 Download/ Squirrel Bombs!!!! Clever!

Awesome. What are you using for your stitching? Awl, needle, machine?

He has to be using a machine. The Sewing Awls work really well, but they would be waaaaaaay too slow to do a full project like this.

That's what I was hoping. Also hoping that he won't say it was a $300 treadle machine.

I am using an old singer 66 electric. I did some research and they said the old 66 singers are borderline light commercial machines. I bought it off craigslist for $50, took it home and blew the lint out of it with an air can, and then oiled it up. The old thing is in really good shape and just chugs away.I have sewn thru some pretty thick stuff just testing it out. My stitches aren't perfect but they are getting better. I was using polyester HVY DTY outdoor thread but am going to try some dyneema.....spider wire braided fishing line? If you have an idea you can try it. I made one the other day that looks stranger than the squirrel bomber but is very comfy.....2 runners and 2 prusiks for upper lower adjusting. I also eliminated the carabiners on one. Just incorporate the runner into the design before you sew it up.

no it doesnt seem to bother my draw at all but it doesn't let you roll...slide around for a shot as easily since you have 2 contact points. Seems like there is always a give and take!

I am looking at a singer 15-91. I Have to make up my mind between that for $100 and a consew 206r for $250. Either way, I'll own one on Thursday. I keep reading that the 15-91 will suffice but have always been a go big or go home person. I have had too many instances where I went cheap and then had to sell my mistake at a loss to buy what I should have bought the first time. Buy once cry once.....

A 15-91 would have been really nice but this was close and cheap. I am making a template and once I get THE ONE ...if possible...I might taking it to a saddle shop and having them do a final for me. My stitching is getting better the more I sew so we will see. I made 2 more this afternoon and getting closer. Playing with the tallness of it. By the way the braided fishing line didn't work for me.

I read to stay away from fishing line as it can cut material when force is out on it.
