I bought mine here already cut but did the rest of the assembly. It started its life as an old version of the LW Assault. Makes a great platform and served me well all season, but at this point I'd just get a Predator. It's practically the same thing with better leveling and a little more real estate close to the tree.

This is the only pic I have of a friend's p.o.s. Chinese platform he cut in half. The front half of the frame rusted and the stand was basically scrap at that point.
He cut the front off and had new cross frame welded across the front. We attached it to the stock upright tube and hung it with double straps like normally done with a full sized platform. We wondered how it would work without the cables. It was rock solid. With no seat assembly, no cables, and half the platform gone, it was really light.

It certainly isn't a predator...can't level it and it needs 2 straps...but it was saved instead of scrap. He will get a few more seasons use out of it.

I'm still waiting to cut up my alpha. I can't wait! I figure it'll come out a little heavier than I would like, but I'm betting it'll be the PERFECT COLD weather stand.

It will give me more room to slide into some extra layers.

Glad to see I'm not the only platform junkie
its a sickness. honestly. I bought every one of those stands I could find on craigslist and ebay. That was before the predator of course, so now I have piles of them stacked up. I love using them for presets.

I think no matter what platforms come to market I'll continue to build and use my own. It's gratifying and no one knows what I need in a platform better than me. Plus I think I enjoy making hunting gear almost as much as I like hunting lol

I have some xop silver medium stands I got cheap. Thought about cutting one down, but hate to cut up a good stand. Hoping Tethered comes out with a slightly bigger platform.
