Deer cams and 12-14' up the tree...how to angle them down.

I will be using three deer cams and want to put them up a tree on trails on public land, but I need to angle them down. Is there better options than a wedge of wood to make them angled down or those cheap arms that bend with just the weight of the camera (mine came with the camera bent).

I cut a bunch of doorstop type wedges out of a 2x4 and throw them in my pack. Quick and easy. Works perfect. Much more secure and adjustable than putting sticks behind the cam.

I did this exact same thing. I cut a few of varying angles and spray painted them. Seems to work well for me.

I use the screw in camera mounts......get 'em in the tree good then angle it in the directions you want to get pics. HME has some that are fairly universal.

Stick. Keep the strap just loose enough so that the stick tightens the whole setup at the angle you want when you slide it in. Use a LB when putting them up that high though so you can use both hands.

I've also thought about small angled pieces of wood like 1 by's cut in an elongated triangle shape. I use them for my conibears to hold the spring up at the right height for deep swim channels for 'rats and they would work slick. Just paint them a dark color if you're worried about the bright colored wood sticking out the top a bit.

I built some DYI screw mounts after my strap loop broke on one of them. Work great easy to install. However went to check on one and it was pointing to the ground. Turns out it was some curious Raccoons. Got them on the camera audio pointing it down by climbing on it.

You can make some screw adjustable screw in mounts pretty easy out of eye hooks, fender washers, bolts and wing nuts. If you on public land and you can't or don't want to screw stuff into a tree you could make the same mounts but fasten them to some sort of bracket. Channel with slots cut in the side for the strap to slide through.

Had not thought about sticks.

I used a stick for a wedge in a new spot earlier this year and ended up with 2000 pics of the leaves blowing because the stick fell out. I was looking at switching to some plastic wedges from Ace Hardware after that epic failure.

Thats what I was talking about, but didn't have a way to attach pictures. If you can't screw it into a tree replace the screw eye for a bolt eye and put it through some sort of bracket
