Off and on for about 10 years.Awesome, man there are some talented people on this forum. How long have you been knapping? By the looks of it... A while.
Horseshoe nails work really well for nottching and making micro serrations. Very narrow and pointy. Just soft enough to grab and flake. I use copper for most of my percussion and pressure work.Do you use antler, copper or something else for
Pressure flaking that nice serration?
Yes he is a master knapper for sure.Ryan Gill on Hunt Primitive has some very interesting videos on using stone points, I think his points are very small like 40-50 grains most of the time. I think his explanation is that there is so much more resistance to stone than steel that he needs a very small sharp head to get penetration.
30 grains too light, you're getting close thoughView attachment 86371
120 grains. I plan on hafting this one to a hickory shaft and fine tune the serrations for this fall
DUDE ! That is awesome. I hope you are able to harvest some deer this fall with it. I'd love to do that kind of stuff, maybe one day when i dont have 4 kids that need to go to sports all over the state.
