I was on Instagram just now and saw these silent approach tree steps and they look awesome. Has anyone used them or direct me to a post that someone has talked about their experience with them. The look like the api steps from the past and I’ve been looking to buy them or similar steps.

Bullman Outdoors has been around for a while. There are several people on the site that have been in direct contact with them. They even sell a package I believe for a ring of steps with a heavy duty ratchet strap. General consensus I do believe is that they are okay for a platform if you get the ratchet strap super tight. They Were also one of the sponsor companies for saddle Palooza. And there have been several reviews done on them on YouTube as well. You should be able to find threads on them pretty easy in climbing methods. I will share one if I can find it.

I ordered the platform package they sell, and I think it'll work well for me. Keep in mind that I'm brand new, though, so I may be undervaluing some of their shortcomings. The complaint I've seen most often about them as that they move too much when pressure is applied to the side of the step, which is key when using them as a platform.

Testing near ground level, even without going overboard on tightening the ratchet strap, I did get some side-to-side movement, but never any sense of instability, like thinking the step would slide or make too much noise. In fact, I don't think I had the strap any tighter than I could get a boat buckle, so I'm curious if that might work. Many guys prefer a boat buckle over a ratchet strap, just to avoid the noise the ratchet makes. But, it's also not hard to use the ratchet silently for all but the last turn or two, so my plan is to stick with it.

One caveat is that I only weigh about 160, so movement may be a bigger issue if there's more weight on the step. And I haven't tried them for an extended time up in a tree.

I haven't tried the steps for climbing, but I suspect they'd do well, especially with the straps they have for that. I just already have some sticks and feel in general those will be quicker and simpler.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah side to side movement is always the biggest problem. For years I’ve used two muddy steps as my platform but I’m just sick of carrying the weight. Trying to go with something different to reduce be weight this year or just go to a platform like the Tethrd. I’m thinking I might do a combo of a platform and a two step from this step company or wild edge steps.

i am new to saddle hunting, but i have been hunting a long time. i bought the bullman outdoors platform step and they are decent the two down falls i saw were you have to get them super, super tight if not any side pressure they tend to move a good bit. also they are pretty slippery, get any type of mud on your boots and its wet out good luck.

When everyone is saying they have sideways movement. Did the ameristep platform have sideways movement too? I feel like they are identical steps with slight variations not sure if those variations are the reason for the movement.
Never had the ameristeps so just wondering

IMO they are not as stable as the ameristeps.

They are not identical at all. The bullman steps are designed so that you stand on the top of the step. The ameristep has the step protruding from the middle of the step.
