I walked into a smaller public spot just now and left for another because wind was wrong. In another tree right now.

In first spot I had a Tasso trail cam stolen last week. Walking out, I see the same cam 150 yards from where mine was stolen.

Without thinking, I walk over and look at the back of the cam to see if it says #3 with a sharpie. It doesn’t. I now realize this guy has me on cam messing with his cam. And it isn’t my stolen one.

I write a note apologizing and explaining situation (4 sentences) and zip tie it to his strap.

I hunt here all the time and now I feel like crap and a little worried someone will mess with my truck etc.

Anyone else do something like this before?

I would've done the same thing. I probably wouldn't have written a note though. I understand why you did write a note but you didn't mess up his camera or look at his pics.

If I am hunting a really remote area I have left my card. Figure we could chat.
Noone has ever called me...lol

You didn’t do anything dumb unless you erased the pictures on the game camera. I have known people to actually check the camera and delete any nice bucks.

Last season I hauled my you know what out from behind my zipper and when I looked down there was a cam facing me at just the right height. I finished peeing and pulled the SD card.

Let me tell you, I am GLAD I DID. Upon looking into the SD card, I discovered this guy was checking his cameras with his what I assume to be 6 or 7 year old daughter... I deleted the oh so glorious 3-action shot pictures of myself and left all of his other content alone.

The next day at work I typed up an apology and explained what happened and why his SD card was gone if here were to notice. I laminated it, attached it to the camera and turned the camera back on.

He only stuck around for about a week into the season and I never caught up with him in the woods. No bad blood though, none of my stuff was touched.

I have been known to photo bomb trail cams when I'm out fly fishing. Sneak up on them and make a face or something. . .ride my fly rod like happy Gilmore or what have you. I hope people get a laugh out of it, if not, at least i think it's funny.

If I saw someone on a cam and saw a note, I wouldn't have any problem with it.

If someone gets up set over that, they will get up set about anything. They just need an excuse to be angry at someone. No harm no foul.

I think you handled it perfectly. Unless the hunter is a A-whole. You should be good

That’s where my card went.
