All the platform threads got me thinking about re-purposing a piece of equipment I had laying around into a small, light platform.
I started with a Hurricane Safety Systems Powerstep and some scrap angle aluminum I've had around for a while. I cut the angle aluminum into 7" long pieces and milled cutouts into them to lock against the tree. These were bolted into the existing threaded connections on the Powerstep. Add some Amsteel and a cam lock with a couple of pieces of old hose to protect where it runs over the aluminum and I've got a new platform to try. I haven't weighed it yet but I'd estimate it right around 4 lbs.
