Distance between steps

I understand, and agree but even if you can step that high, how do you do it with a linemans belt on?

Loosen it and lean back into it. The difference between stepping up 16” vs 24” only if it’s me a couple more inches away from the tree. My linesman’s belt has stopped me during a fall but most will say it’s for balance and hands free setting next step than actual fall arrest. I actually prefer a moveable aider and only putting my steps 18” apart vs trying to really stretch them out. Everyone has to climb within their safe skill level. Some of us push that too far. Some people don’t like aiders and climb with full length sticks. Sticks with 16” steps but then they space them 3’ apart. For me with wild edge steps I put them 3’-3.5 feet apart. I use the aider on the way up but don’t need it on the way down.

Congrats my friend! May I ask what you have done to take off the weight?

My son was playing 2 baseball leagues in the summer so I left for work at 715 and didn't get home til 9. Its was basically just cutting down on calorie intake and stop snacking

I thought about the aider and tried it but in the end I dont trust myself, let alone when i have my heavy winter gear on. It gets cold early here in PA. And coming down is definitely a different story. I'm going to be switching to ameristeps here shortly so stretching the steps up is out of the question for me. I like to tighter to the tree with my linemans belt, it just makes me feel safer.

Yep if your worried about falling ill think you’ll be in for a rude surprise with a linesman belt. It’s for free hands and working. If you try and step that far with it tight you’ll get sucked into the tree. After I step down tighten it up a little and repeat

That'll do it! My first step was cutting out the sugary foods too. It was easier said than done LOL.

So either I'm just old and lost my flexibility or I'm doing something wrong, I see all of the modded sticks and steps that have very big distances between steps. No matter what I do I cant step past 16". How is everyone managing 18" + between steps without an aider?

16'' stick and 3 step aider with 16'' steps. I sewed the stirrups on at 16'' but with the sag you'd want to sew them a little closer together. I have everything made to were when i attach the stick as high as i can reach every step will be 16''......except maybe the first step off the ground may be more or less depending on the tree. Yes.... I'm a spider monkey who can hang on the aider, hold a tape measure, and take a photo at the same time.

I've had enough hunts now were I've only gone 2 high that I'm wondering why i keep carrying 3 sticks
