Greetings everyone!

I have started a list of the gear I plan to purchase, and wanted to run it by those who have a bit of experience. The following were the items I planned to use

  • 8x or 10x Stepp Ladders with three as a platform, possibly one like this (
    )
  • Stepp Ladder Aider
  • Kestrel Size 1 - I was going to avoid the kit, to build my own tree rope and linemans rope
  • 2 x Wild Country Ropeman 1's, one for tree rope, the other, the linemans
  • 20ft BlueWater Assault line, 11ft for tree rope, 9ft for linemans
  • 2 x Petzl Attache, one for linesman, the other, tree rope
My plan was to keep one side of the lineman's rope tied to the harness, to be daisy chained up before stashing away in a MOLLE pouch. I'm too afraid that I would drop my disconnected linesman rope at the top of the tree.

Would this be considered to be a complete setup? My main concerns were the rope lengths for tree rope and linesman's. The only other accessories I planned to add were knee pads, and a retractable gear hoist. Once I familiarize myself with the setup and takedown, I will figure out my ideal pack and bow hanging method.

Looking forward to hunting with some added altitude!

You will be better off using two to three Stepps as a platform vs the board. Not recommended by Wild Edge. They are working on something for a platform but so are a lot of others right now. I use three Stepps themselves - takes a lot of practice to get the platform Stepps somewhat level. But very solid once set

Welcome from Pa . I would order the 10 steps I ordered eight and ended up ordering two more with a bag that would fit 10 steps. As for your rope make sure to order enough because knots take up alot of rope. I would order extra rope just in case you need it remember you can always use rope. Good luck.

Welcome to the site! X2 on not doing the plywood route. They are supposed to come out with a platform soon which should work better. I would order extra rope because you can always cut a little extra off but you can't add it on.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll drop the plywood idea and go with 10 Stepps as well as plenty of rope!

It seems most people are preferring the red squirrel climbing aider over the wild edge aider. The squirrel aider can also double as your tether. You can spend a few days and read the red squirrel climbing aider thread and learn allot.

That’s what I did. I bought the Wild Edge aider but now don’t use it

I read a good chunk of the redsquirrel aider thread, and definitely think I'll be going with the tether/aider combo.

For now, I'll try three Stepp ladders as a platform. Looking forward to seeing what wild edge comes out with.
