DIY platform help

I didn't have anything set up to hang it from my pack so I just used my minimalist platform which fits inside on Friday. I have to add some straps to my pack.

YOU ASKED FOR IT.....
I see I have re-drilled the pivot hole near the center of the post as suggested in the earlier thread. Other than that, it is the same, I think. I went on to other projects and this went in storage. It works well if you need a big platform for medium price.
Your a diy'er, now diy you a tripod LOL

@Usi05 @bj139 I'm considering doing the same. How are your diy saddles holding up? Has the aluminum become deformed? Does it move with side pressure?

Anyone else have experience with these lw seats as platforms?

I upgraded to some 6061 when I got it free to make my sticks. Had no issues after that.

Even with the cheaper aluminum it did fine. I just used a few wraps of duct tape with a quarter where screw would hit to spread weight out over the post.

I had no issues with mine but sold it because of what folks were paying for them at time and bought a predator.

Going to make another one or two over summer.

It was lighter than my predator but predator is easier to lock in.

Thanks. Would you have been able to apply full bodied side pressure without the platform slipping?

If you were to do it again, what would you do differently?

I converted my LW seat to a platform very similar to the one posted here. I used the seat, post, and cleat from the hang on. I added another cleat at the bottom.
I have OOAL RR and a Predator. The converted LW is by far my favorite. It is more stable than all the others with a cleat on top and bottom.
Only problem is after about 30 hunts the threaded insert for the adjustment bolt blew out. I just put a different bolt with a nut on it and set it to the preferred angle. I use it for a pre-set so adjustability is not a big deal but if I convert it back to a hang on it will need to be repaired.
Contemplating sending it back to LW and see if they'll replace it. Probably won't though because it wasn't intended to be used that way.

That's good to know about the adjustment bolt blowing out. Do you have a picture of your setup you'd be willing to share?

I don’t have any pics. It’s currently in a tree in Oklahoma right now. I’ll get some pics when I go pull my sets down next week.
