I will be going to a saddle next season. I have an Aero Kestrel arriving in Feb after pa season ends. I plan on building a platform from my lone wolf seat. Why does it seam to matter the type of lone wolf seat? I plan to use lone wolf straps to cam it, as well as lone wolf offset bracket or two to attach to tree. What are thoughts and if I send a picture of mine can someone tell me if it will work?

All of them will work but depending on the style seat will depend on the way you build it the old seats with the teeth in the back can be used to build what they call the klemz platform the other styles are not like the xop seat platforms. You can find a lot about both on here looking through old threads. Post a pic of you have one.

Thank you for the insight that makes me feel better. I have seen photos of my seat used. I have an assault 2 I believe. As far as hardware is concerned Steel bolts are the recommendation

Post a pic so we can see what you have

This my exact seat do you recommend using the grips from the sticks (I have lonewolfs) or using say two offset brackets? My concern is the offsets will not grab enough, but really the concern is getting the seat to cam over right?

The one pictured will ha e problems with those V brackets. They will bend or break. Need the LW batwing, XOP 6-point, or eastern woods outdoors tree bracket. They are all closer to the tree and will handle the pressure from the camming.

@shwacker whats the reason for the Amsteel and Strap? also...what do you use the step on top of the post for?

i bought the XOP 6 point brackets after breaking the big V style bracket that was on my DIY platform the first time I cammed it over. the 6 Points have been great, worked on many different diameter trees, bites well, etc.

At first I had a button so I could quickly hang it then work on the cam strap, it also served as a backup just in case the cam strap failed. I since ditched it just for simplicity

@DanO V bracket is more robust and MAYBE it would work. But I wouldn’t test it, and he would prob tell you the same to be on the safe side

yup....I didn't know DanO had the store and bought them from XOP, but they look pretty close to the XOPs that I got....https://xopoutdoors.com/collections/replacement-parts/products/six-point-bracket

if I needed to do it again I'd buy from @DanO and support a brother saddlehunter.
No problem @hickstick, the XOP is the second best option out there :)
