Gave building a platform a shot. Pretty happy with the results. 11.5"x13" wide and 3 lbs 5 oz and packs nice and flat. Was hoping to get under 3 lbs, but just couldnt get there without sacrificing too much. Now just needs some paint.

Looks awesome! Care to give us more details on it? It looks professional so I would be interested in how you designed and machined it. What type of material for the platform did you use and maybe any other interesting details about this build that you'd like to share? Is it a first iteration?

Thanks for the feedback! I'm a welder so I'm lucky to have access to fabrication stuff. I started by tracing the back of my older assault on to some cardboard and cutting it out. I traced that onto a piece of 1/2" aluminum plate and shrunk it down to the size I was looking for. I tried to combine the flat packing of the predator that I really liked with the size and function of the EDP that I still have and love. After a few hours with a drill press, jigsaw, and a die grinder I'm pretty happy.

Was it a magnetic drill press and annular cutters?

I mean, it's a spectacular job, and we're obviously now all on the brink of having a go at it ourselves, but I cant even cut straight lines in 3/4" boards with a jigsaw. How the heck did that come from a drill press, jigsaw, and a die grinder. Amazing.

Thanks! If I were to take close up pictures youd detect the flaws haha. After I had the pattern drawn on the sheet, I drilled holes on the corners of the material I wanted to remove. Then took a jigsaw and connected the dots, leaving the line I had drawn to be slowly removed with 1/4" aluminum burr in the 90° die grinder. It took a lot of patience and time split up over several weeks. But I get enjoyment out of messing around with stuff and making my own versions, even when they dont turn out.

Thats amazing. Thanks for sharing.

It's amazing what one can do with a milling machine, die grinder and jig saw been there, done that:wink: great job!

Dang it I like that! I went the spare parts DIY route so nothing like yours. I have planned to add the holes like you have there though.

Curious, what is the length of your stick and how far from the bottom did you drill your hold for the platform? Mine stick is 12” and just not sure how far to come up to attach the platform which is a lone wolf seat.

The post is 11.25" and the hole for the platform is 2.25" off the bottom. Using a seat, your platform location would be different since I think how it would lock to the tree and cam would be different, but I could be wrong.
