My brother just sent me a pic of the platform he made for me. I hope to pick it up tomorrow night and be able to test it out with my rock climbing harness until my Mantis arrives. It is 21" wide and weighs 4.45lbs.

What looks scary about it? We have been making stands out of the conduit for years so I am not worried about that at all. My only concern will be when I put side pressure on it. All testing will be done at ground level.

Testing will tell. If you have experience with it I may be wrong. Some things I’d look into, because I can’t tell from the pic exactly, would be to use grade 8 bolts. Make sure the aluminum square tubing is the right grade and thickness. Add a steel plate for the adjustment bolt to set against. That’s a few things a few of us have found while doing our testing on DIY projects.
I’ve made sticks out of 1/2 emt conduit. I’ll admit they looked scary too but they worked for me.

Good points....Grade 8 bolts were used and it is 3/4" conduit. He was thinking about using 1/2" but wasn't sure how it would hold up after drilling a hole in it. I did see where guys were having issues with the leveling bolt on the aluminum so I will keep a close eye on that.
