Posted this on the FB saddle hunter too, just wanted to put it here for any other ideas for improvements or to help others with questions on making a setup.

Been messing with this stuff for a couple months now. Thought I’d share what I’ve built.

API 24inch mod sticks are 2.75 each, 8.25 for all 3, that is with aiders on each and the 1/4 inch amsteel. Gets me 18ft, 20ish to platform. My diy platform (assassin seat with DanO brackets, with double step on the top of it) is 3.5 pounds with amsteel and a cambuckle strap. My diy saddle is 3.75 pounds ready to hunt, linesman w/ ropeman, 3 biners, amsteel secondary for crossing branches, pruners, bow hoist rope, and accessory strap/hooks.

Still new to this, if an experienced person sees something I’m missing or should/could alter I’m open to suggestions. Thanks

Man sweet project! What was the total cost for the build?

Got a couple sets of APIs late season for bout $70 a set, so just add a few bucks for the aider webbing. Platform was right around $100. Saddle is about $25 in material (estimate, I spent about 80 but can make a few saddles with that). Then cost of ropeman, $50, some rope and carabiners

I like the double step incorporated into your platform. That will help those who like a high tether.

I like it, still new to this. I have a high head high tither with a long 50” bridge. Seems to be least hip pinch. The step makes a super solid anchor when rotating around the tree. Plus just another place to put your feet from time to time for fatigue issues

I like the setup! I’m getting ready to mod a set of API’s myself, curious, what knot are you using to attach the amsteel to the versa button?

Double wrap the button then a clove hitch... but I use Amsteel daisy chain now

Id recommend splicing an eye. It's super easy. G2 outdoors has a video showing how to do it.

Did you have to reinforce the tubing where the adjustment screw is in the seat? If so what did you use.

I just JB welded an extra small piece of 1/8 inch I had. But after my 11 day out of state hunt the JB weld is getting some cracks, still holding but I’ll prob get my buddy to weld me a piece of 1/8 or 3/16 on there

How long is the step from the valley of your aider up to the step on your stick? Also, how long is the material untied with the knot? Looking to tie some this way myself!
