My old man and I built a great one. Sink a couple posts in concrete footers, then bolt a pair of 2x10’s to the top, and hang two 3/4” thick horse mats up there side-by-side. Those puppies will stop anything. I’ll post a pic later.
I've made many targets out of these and they last a long time outside. I stuff with plastic from a furniture store or from contractors.

Rubber horse mat from Tractor Supply. Amazing. 20 yards 580 grain arrow stopped with only 10 inches of penetration. I wanted to test it to make sure if I did miss my 4' x 4' target I would be safe.

Awesome thanks guys seems like I'll be grabbing a horse mat or two myself for our yard. Thanks for saving me to make a post. Thus was really on my mind as I bought the kiddos a genesis bow last weekend

styrofoam blocks from tractor supply. Free and good up to 60# bow. Kids love the size!

I used to do this until I noticed my arrows started accumulating streaks where the styrofoam appears to melt with the friction of sudden penetration and stick to the arrow requiring cleaning after you get them out.

How do I ask for these free blocks? What do they use them for? Packaging of some sort I assume?

When they receive a shipment of flat trailers, these blocks are what they stack between them.
That bag is money. I've got one in my basement that gets hammered daily at 15yds.
Mine has about had it, sometimes if I heart shot it goes clean through the bag, hits the backstop and bounces out. I've probably hit that bag with thousands of arrows
