Does grigri+ work with 8mm rescuetech?

I think there are a lot of variables involved in what your expectations are. The grigri plus is rated for 8.5 mm rope minimum. The safeguard is rated for 8.1 mm minimum, both are out of spec, anyone with any sense with any true skin in the game would tell you no, but we are all a little MAD around here (Alice in wonderland) just remember, the longer the rope, the more elongation, and the smaller the diameter at the bottom. You make the call. Technically the rope is out of mfg spec though
 
I use the Grgri+ with 8mm Oplux. No issues for me. Keep tension on the tag end of you take the load off. It will slide down the line more easily, but it still catches like it should, as long as you keep it Top Rope Mode.

Major slippage for me on 8.0mm. It worked fine while I was at height but climbing created a lot of banging/clanging when I’d use an aider because it was always falling down the rope and hitting stuff.

Decided the piece of mind and lack of noise of 9.0mm canyon was worth it and haven’t looked back since.
