Does anyone who uses double steps have an issue with them moving slightly from side to side? Is this normal?

I would say no. The slot should be tight. Imho they shouldn’t shift without the bolt in it

how much are they shifting? usually the tolerances arent perfect because of the tooling of the machine but they should be close enough to not feel the tiny bit of movement.

cnc machines usually get within .005 plus or minus accuracy to the measurement and that is small but a less than tight fit does occur. just snug your bolts down and your good

The only issue I've heard one report of is when using Lone Wolf standoffs. They allow full rotation and can allow the bolt to loosen. I experienced this with a set of API Huntin' Sticks that allowed rotation and the bolts loosened up and allowed the steps to shift a little. The tolerances on DoubleSteps are really tight and shouldn't fit loose on the sticks at all unless you have some out of spec tubes or metric tubes.

When I first installed mine on the lone wolf sticks I put all the nylon washers back on like original and the double steps wobbled. So I removed the one washer between the steps and stick that fixed the problem.

Mine did the same thing and found that it was the three pieces of tubing I ordered was all different sizes. They varied .01 I had the welder at work tack weld them

I need to specify DanO that these are sticks I bought with double steps already on from factory. Old Cypress sticks.

Do you have calipers? Could you get a measurement of your stick width for me? Sounds like they might be undersized.

For the record gentlemen, these are not Dan O double steps. These are sticks that came factory with steps that happen to be double.
