Drainage Grate as a Platform?

Anybody try one of these as a platform? Was thinking of the Wild Edge hack that's floating around on YouTube where the guy used a piece of plywood with two holes drilled in it that he put on the WE step...this drainage Grate seems like it would work in that application.

That could work if it will handle the pressure on the edge. I had thought about some fiberglass catwalk grating I'd seen on a jobsite that was light, but it's rather expensive.

Or maybe run a 5/16" threaded rod through the middle to make a versa button on each end and figure out a way to hinge it to a post to make an Ernie platform. That way the pressure is on the bolt instead of the sides of the platform...idk...the longer it takes for deer season to start the more I spend on tinkering.

Definitely worth a try. Interested to hear how it works.

Fiberglass grate is working great with 2 screw ins. I have since added 2 more u bolts and have one in the freezer to test at ground level to see if it is fragile at low temps.

Yes I tried it a ground level and jumped on it until I bent the screw in tree steps and I'm 250 lb

Ive made dozens from catwalk grating and they work great.
A bit heavy, so we use them for presets.
We hung 7 of them last weekend.
Solid as a rock.
I thought I had pics of them but I cant find them.
