Nothing sweeter than working mallards down through green timber or into flooded cutover edges. A true passion.

I have torn up a many of equipment chasing public land big ducks in SC. Was some good hunting in the mid to late 80s and early 90s. Then along comes DU cool, Duck Dynasty, corn ponds around every corner, SCWA birds, etc.........swamps now seem to fill up with highballin sky busting rubberheads instead of ducks. LoL.

Now that I'm older I will not get out of bed for a summer duck, to lazy. I just plan to head west for the big ducks. Even that has changed tremendously since duck hunting became the "popular" sport. I'll find myself checking old holes when weather looks right hoping to see them stacked.

Fun stuff!! Good luck on the season!!!

@Scoutman if you get any, share a few pics. You might be able to convince me to take up waterfowl next year!

Grew up in SC, too. Hunted ducks in Georgetown, Charleston, Horry County areas. Also state line of NC.

Went to look at 2 new spots for 2nd split opener Saturday. Saw 200 to 300, mallards, pintails, teal, gadwalls. Built blinds, marked trail on gps, etc. My archery season may be over, hurt my shoulder last Thursday. PT therapist says no bow for at least a month, so we will see.
