Have any of you tried dynamic rope as a linesman's or tether rope? I would sure like to hear about your experience. Thanks so much.

I have a dynamic rope tether, and my homemade saddle is stretchy. I haven't fallen on it but the give doesn't bother me at all in day to day sitting.

Like moving around the tree? Once my weight is on the tether, its done most all the stretching it will do at that force, i can sit in the saddle and bounce if I want but it doesn't get stretcher just because I decided to swing around the tree. How does the stretch feel when applying pressure? Does it feel like it’s stretching? Or does it feel solid

Main annoyance is that you have to initially choke up a bit closer to the tree when setting your tether to account for the little bit of stretch you will get when you lean back into it.

I don't use any climbing method that uses a linesman.Have you tried dynamic rope as a lineman rope?
I use dynamic rope as linemans and it works fine. I prefer it to static rope because static is much stiffer and more difficult to pack in a pouch. Also it seems dynamic will grab tree better if you slip, which is what you want. No matter what kind you use for lineman keep it above you at all times with the minimum amount of slack needed to maneuver. Also, don't hesitate to hook up that tether as safety when transitioning around limbs and certainly before transferring weight to a platform.
For me the fact dyn rope is flexible which seems to make it grab better than stat rope mainly because we are using it on relatively small diameter trees. If you were using a lineman rope the way a pole climber or lumberjack climber uses one on large trees they need the rope or in some cases a strap to retain its shape where they can throw it as the proceed up the tree or pole. When we ascend up a tree its controlled and relatively slow and we don't necessarily need to throw it but simply work it up as you go always keeping it above you. In case of a slip the dyn rope seems to grab better or actually hang up on the bark, which if you slip is a good thing. You can always try them both as the expense is minimal and personal testing is hard to beat. For the tether you cannot beat oplux and its behavior is similar to dyn rope in my opinion, but with better load ratings per diameter class.
I mean there are "single"dynamic ropes under 9mm these days right? They aren't cheap and you probably have to buy 50m of them at a time.Sounds good. I have dynamic rope on the way to try out a replacement for my Oplux. I'm leery of static line tethers at this point. It stinks that to get a sufficiently stronger dynamic rope that you need to get such a thickie. After being spoiled with Oplux, I'll feel like it is a big grape vine. It's just an experiment, and I won't be surprised if I stick with Oplux.
The length is so short that the total stretch is small and is hardly noticeable especially on the linemans which just keeps you from falling backwards while you fasten things. I would use static or dynamic and be happy with either. Here I'm using 8mm dynamic for linemans and 8.5mm dynamic for tether.Have any of you tried dynamic rope as a linesman's or tether rope? Sorry to bump an old one but did you ever practice with your dynamic tether? What’s you experience so far? After going to a one stick this summer it seems like possibility of taking a fall got more real. I just snagged some Edelrid 9.8 mm rope on sale. It’s definitely thick but fall calculator says it could cut a 10 kn static fall down to only 5 kn on the dynamic rope.Sounds good.
