Just curious how e bikes perform on steep hills. Do the sub $2000 have the power to go uphill? I have never been on one, but
I'm considering one for next season

Sub $2k hub motor? No. Not steep terrain. My dad has a Himiway 750watt with the hub motor and it will climb a decent little hill behind our house but not without considerable help from pedaling. I have two 1000 watt mid drives and they will climb hills that are hard to walk up with a little help pedaling. If you have steel hills I would HIGHLY suggest a mid drive.
