Electric golf cart?

Does anyone here use an electric golf cart for hunting? I have a 3500 acre hunting club that is about 4 miles from front to back and basically all flat, with the occasional soft spot. My family is too big for my 250 atv and so I've been using my truck as an atv. Looking to get something that I can use around the club, and at home to cruise the neighborhood.

For those that use them, any input on how an electric cart would work under these conditions. Still debating between this or a Polaris Crew, but the cart would be more affordable and versatile at home.

I bought one when I had my old farm (378 acres). Absolutely loved it for that purpose. Amazingly quiet and didn't spook game like truck or walking did. I had a lifted cart, 2 wheel drive and never once got stuck and had some mud and steep terrain. 3500 acres I could see the possibility to run into duration issues with the batteries but I never had any issue on my much smaller tract. My batteries are older now (10 years) so they don't perform like they used to but still plenty good for riding the kid around my current 15 acre lot.

My uncle used to use one on our our 3000 acre lease. Worked great, super quiet and got the job done. But we had issues with the batteries running low after riding from one end of the lease to the other

I'f you do get one, needs to be used fairly regularly or kept on a battery maintainer or you'll have an expensive mess to deal with. They're also pretty heavy compared to the gas versions and you'll have to take that into account when loading them on a tilt trailer.

I used one on my 100 acres for several years. It had an aluminum bed and it hauled 2-3 guys plus a dead deer out on a couple of different occasions with no problems. Mine had turf tires and didn't have a lift so I had to be a little careful where I took it but, I am confident a lift and some more aggressive tires would have solved that issue. IT was much quieter then using an ATV, I regret selling it.

Thanks guys. My primary concern with the electric cart was the range. Sounds like our club may be a little big from all the research I've done. I'm leaning towards a Polaris Ranger (or similar) but the golf cart would likely be an easier sell with the wife due to the dual purpose.

Have you considered a gas cart? I have one and can ride for days on a tank of gas. You can quit the muffler with aftermarket parts designed for hunting. I think you will definitely benefit from the gas over the battery cart.

Gas carts are a fraction of the noise of most ATVs. Especially at start-up. I've been on diesel carts on mountainous golf courses but can't quite recall how loud they were.

It would be an extra cost, but you could get lithium battery replacements. Twice the power and half the weight

Jeff Sturgis claimed Diesel motors didn't spook deer as much as a gas motor. He was referring to more of a side by side. Said deer have associated that with farming for a while. I can't prove or dis prove either way. He has more experience managing property than me. But for what it's worth that's what he said.

That could be true if you live in and around farms using diesel equipment, every property is different for sure. My deer weren't that fond of my tractor but I didn't live on the farm and the tractor wasn't running around all day every day either.

I got a gas cart 7-8 years ago with the bed in the back that flips up to make another seat, they are quieter than an atv. I've had 4 guys or 2 guys an a deer and it climbs hills with out any problems. Would have to say I got my moneys worth and then some and you'd probably feel better with your kids driving it.

I picked up a gas one last year for 200$. Motor was wore out so I put a predator 13hp in it from harbor freight. Repaint, recover of the seats and aluminium box. Added a trailer hitch also. About 800$ total in it. With the turf tires I am quite impressed with what it will go through. As others said great on gas. The kids love it.
Electric are nice on solid ground ,but that's it unless you spring for a bad boy or something similar. My stepmom is having battery issues now. Replacements are just under what she paid for the whole cart.

Gas! Never have a range problem, I could go 50 miles on a tank I bet.

Mine is a bit loud, but I don’t hunt from it, so I’d def look at the muffler options

I looked several years ago. The cost of batteries every 5/6 years is just not doable for me.

Wife's grandpa has a gas one he uses for yard work. Things a work horse too. Barely can hear wien it's running, goes up and down hills behind the house with ease. Spends most of its life with a trailer behind it.
