OK all you saddle hunters out there. Here are a couple pictures of what I consider to be the most outside of the box saddle kill I've ever seen and I've personally been part of well over 100 kills and know many other hunters with many saddle kills as well.
Notice the windmill which is there to pump water into the cattle watering hole to the right of the windmill. Eric Guider who is a personal friend of mine was hunting out of a pop-up blind which was set up on the opposite side of the waterhole from the windmill and every evening a group of antelope would come in to drink.
There was a huge buck in the group and while all the other antelope would come in and drink within easy bowshot range, the buck would hang up near the windmill which was out of range. This happened two evenings in a row and it was obvious that it would continue.
So on the 3rd evening Eric climbed up the side of the windmill and hooked up in his sling just below the top platform. There was enough wind that the blades were turning and making a slight sqeeking noise. Everything happened as planned and the does came in and drank and the buck again hung up near the windmill within 15 yards. Eric made the chip shot and took a beautiful P&Y antelope.
This happened several years ago and Eric was nice enough to send me the pictures.
Talk about an awesome hunt, this was it!!!!!
