Hello all, Looking into one sticking w/the EWO UP and was curious how comfortable and roomy it is compared to the Predator, etc. I realize the front of the UP is angled unlike the predator but can you still stand on it for a bit if you wanted to (size 11 feet) or does it just work for leaning/sitting?
Thanks

I’m here for the replies on this one. I was going to ask the same question…I watched a couple YouTube videos to get an idea for size and pros/cons but would like to hear from someone who has used for a season

This thread does a good job summarizing pros and cons.

I posted comparison pics on the above thread.
After a season on it
I prefer the UP over predator .
I’m a 9.5 boot and can pivot on the UP. I prefer a ROS to use with for comfort when hunting over 3 hours .
I’ve actually been using ROS more recently on there own.
Larger boot size hunters seem to prefer a stand alone platform and 1 stick without platform to pivot on
UP packed on a MR pop up in pic.

*I did not punch a tag using the UP

Size 12. I like the UP for most hunts. Have not been crazy about it for gun season, as it seems I need a little more room to aim the gun. Great for bow hunting. If I plan to hunt all day or the weather is colder and I have more cloths on, I take along my predator so I can use both to work around the tree, and stagger how I am sitting. Just grabbed a solo off the classifieds to see how that works with it. Warmer weather 30+, bow hunting, the UP platform is enough IMO.

I have both and prefer the UP platform over the predator but both have their place. I use a ROS also for comfort and moving around the tree. Have done all day sits with no issues. Size 10 boots.

*Punched both bow buck and gun buck tags while using the UP on public land this year.

The short answer, no, you can’t really stand up and tuck in your shirt or pee. Can you “technically stand” yes, but your right up against the tree. With that said, I love it and don’t plan on changing.

I found myself ALWAYS wanting to bring my platform no matter what. To me it was not worth bringing the UP and the predator, therefore I just sold my UP and went with a double step on top to make the lightest stick possible

I personally don’t have a predator to compare but I do have a ridge runner from OOAL although weight isn’t much of a factor for me I prefer to use the UP and a ROS like others have stated. I also haven’t used the RR that much as I just liked trying the 1 stick method this season.

I find myself using the predator as a tree seat when I gun hunt from the ground, which isn’t often now. I’ll probably use the UP until I’m physically unable to one stick.

I like that idea of using the Predator as a seat for ground hunting during gun season. Might incorporate that in the future.

I own the Predator, Flat Scout and UP. This is my first season saddle hunting and also first season bow hunting. So had a decent learning curve. Size 10 boots. I strictly climbed using the one-stick method this season.

Flat Scout - Preferred for shorter hunts (2-4 hours) in early bow season. Especially for spots that involved lots of walking. Weight savings felt like a lot to me. And I could easily pack it on my Eberlestock Dagger for a minimalist setup.

UP - Preferred for longer hunts and as things got cooler and I started running my Eberlestock X2. Shot my archery buck from the UP.

Predator - Tried using it, but ultimately felt like it didn’t offer a ton of extra room beyond the UP and rarely broke it out when I used the Scout. The weight savings of removing it from my pack was considerate when walking 1-3 miles or even a half mile through thicker areas.

I also have squirrel steps to run with the UP and Scout as needed, but did not break them out much this season. Plan to practice with them more in the off-season, as I purchased these after the season began.

The squirrel steps work great with the UP. I use 3 of them, one on each side and one opposite the UP. Makes sitting with knees against the tree comfortable and makes it easy to move around the tree.

This is my predator set up as a tree seat. Just added a pad to sit on and a shoulder strap clipped to paracord loops.
