Fake chew - Quitting Tobacco

As a dentist, this thread makes me happy. Keep it up fellas!!
My mom is a hygienist. Shed be so disappointed. She always asks when my last cleaning was and I change the subject.

Got a roll of the baccoff today. Tomorrow is day 1.

I’ve never been a heavy dipper, but smoked for several years. I used Chantix and it worked like a freaking charm. Scary how easy it was to quit smoking. I’ve heard it’s good for dipping too. Ask your doc about it.

A guy I worked with bought the non nicotine “tobacco”. I don’t know the name of it but It tasted like the real stuff. He used that to help him get off the nicotine then slowly stopped using the stuff all together. I smoked for 15 years and chewed for 10 of them. I quit both in September but I’m still using nicotine lozenges.

I dipped off and on for 30 years. I switched to Nicorette gum and it took me two years to get off of that stuff. I spent more money on the gum than I ever did on Copenhagen. I also got a three day hospital visit in when I put myself in a fib due to chewing 20 pieces of 4mg gum in one day.
I’m happy to say that I have been nicotine and tobacco free for almost three years.
Quitting is hard, but you can do it.

This just put something into prospective. I had one of my employees go into a fib last week. He has been on ZYN 6mg terrible. I wonder if that did it? The ZYN 3mg is what I use to get off the can of Copenhagen longcut a day routine. The zyn helped me quit all together but chasin brush fires in TX last summer and becoming a supervisor, put me back on the ZYN. Still better than “chew” I guess.

Nobody likes “ that guy “ but I’ll be him for a moment. Quitting only happens when you want to. All of the “ help me quit “ products really only reinforce your desire to continue.

Last time I had my mind set and dropped it seemingly no problem. Ive tried a few times this time and my wife keeps asking hows it going when I would put another one in. And I told her you have to want to quit. Once you want it its pretty simple. Its hard to make yourself want it. But was talking with my brother in law the other day about all kinds of stuff and chewing came up and think that kind of hit the switch for me. Ive been weening myself off mornings for a while now so anxiousness will probably be setting in afternoon or so.

@smcchevy didnt you already quit? I appreciate it but guess i dont get the quit with you? I went and signed up at the forum over the weekend but didnt spend much time orienting myself with the site. Might jump over there if I have some more downtime during the work day.

@DaWiz9578 Yes I quit every single day. I am addicted to nicotine, and probably will be my entire life.

You mentioned that you have to have a strong "why" or reason to quit and that is very true. You also need to understand that nicotine is a highly addictive drug.

With those 2 truths, I understood that one slip up, one dip can land me back where I was.

You can do it man.

Yeah I know. I appreciate it. First day should be the worst, but whatever. Ill save my complaints for the kick the can site once I get over there and pledged or signed in or whatever I have to do.

Good thing is, got the baccoff after doing some more shopping on amazon and tried to cancel my fully loaded wintergreen long cut order. They said no guarantee that it will get cancelled, so of course it still showed up. I think the fully loaded is the closest to a wintergreen long cut you can get outside of the real thing. That would be my rec to anyone with all the ones ive tried, even has a little of the tingle/sting. Good luck to anyone else that decides to drop the habit.

I quit about 3 years ago after about a 10 year span, I tried this stuff call chatahoochie chew at first taste was okay texture was nothing like the real thing, quiting cold is the best but you just got to be okay with still wanting it cause the cravings don’t ever go away.

If your gonna go.... Go big!
I have dipped for 10+years and every once in a while if I'm drunk I'll sneak a smoke...... Nicotine baser

there was even a point where I got one of them new fangled vape pens to help quit but all that did was allow me to smoke inside my house:tearsofjoy: I got worried that my heart was going to give out with all the nicotine I was on.

Have you tried dropping the vape down in nicotine mg to eventually a day or two on zero until you realize its pointless? A few people at work have quit successfully with a vape.

Oh that was a couple years ago. I dont smoke, vape, or chew any more. I use nicotine lozenges at the moment but I have been weening myself off them.

Outlaws new dip is the best non tobacco I’ve tried hands down. Haven’t touched a tobacco product since it’s release. And the flavors are amazing. I’m a southern sweet tea guy but all of them are good. Give it a try outlawdip.com

Guess I will give my testimony! I dipped for almost 20 years and in that time I probably quit 5-10 times. But only turned to cigarettes to satisfy my nicotine addiction. I finally got my mind right when the company I work for implemented a tobacco free policy and I went cold turkey..... One of the hardest things to do and there where many times, I could twist off at anytime, like a ticking time bomb.. Never tried any supplements other than chewy gum as I felt that it would just lead me back in the direction that I was trying to avoid. I have been nicotine free since Jan. 2,2017 and not a day goes by that I don’t have the urge for big ol chaw of Copenhagen ... Oooohhweee I’m getting fired up just thinking about it! Anyway stay strong and kick it!

This is only the second time I've quit (meaning making it past a day), not sure how many times I haven't made it this far. I can already tell the symptoms are better today but hit me real hard around lunch time. Like I said first day is the worst.

Good to hear others stories. That's the premise of the kickthecan site offered above. If anyone reads this and needs some support go check it out. Should change the thread title to quitting tobacco.
