Where the skys are so blue!
I have 20 acres out my back door with a few treestands - never used a single one last year. I've switched completely over to a platform, specifically one of my DIY scooter platforms. If I couldn't find an scooter foot rest, it would be a Tethrd Predator because they are so lightweight and portable. Going to do some additional testing with the Out on a Limb Podium at the next saddle demo day as well.
For longer hikes I will be using a Ring of SquirrelSteps. However, at this point it may not happen this year. Ruptured my achilles Monday night and had surgery yesterday. Going to miss turkey season but hopefully not deer season.
That's a bummer! Rest up and get better!

Ouch hate to hear about the injury. Mush have been pretty bad if they operated that fast. Hoping for a fast recovery.

Thanks guys! I self-diagnosed it as ruptured achilles so skipped urgent care or any other doctor. Went straight to an orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday and he just happened to have an opening the very next day. Why delay the inevitable - let it start healing right away.
Didn't mean to derail the thread - now get back on topic!

Wow @DanO hope you heal fast! I don't think we have found the perfect platform yet. I am trying to come up with one that is lite weight easy to install and affordable.....? So far I have only saddle hunted from a Lone Wolf DIY platform and a ring of steps. I like the Perch but want one that you don't have to install two devices to get one..... smells like another DIY? Looking forward to trying a Preditor at the MA show! Don't want to derail this thread but what would the perfect platform look like. I want one that kind of wraps around the tree to aid shooting from my weak side.

DIY scooter platform is still my go to. Have a Predator, but much prefer the scooter. Have used steps and despise them. Finding the right limb setup in a tree trumps them all.

I used tree limbs and a lw hand climber last year. I built a treesuit platform and another variant of it that'll get used this fall. Also picking up a DIY line wolf platform in a week or so from a fellow saddle hunter that I plan to use some. I also have an idea for a new style platform that I hope to have time to build this summer

All I have right now and the only one I've ever used is the Predator. Lite weight, packable, easy to set up, solid and quiet, small enough and big enough, so you can just turn on it to shoot the off side shot. Price, honestly I don't remember exactly. I bought it last fall so that pain is gone, and all I'm left with is a solid piece of equipment.

I feel your pain...really. I just got off crutches from a torn calf muscle. I was lucky, no achilles involvement and no surgery. I hope you heal quickly.

BTW, Predator platform, but that's all I've used.
