Finding hunting dogs

Well that settles that, I hate deer dogs, their owners and the entire sport now. Basically running deer with dogs seems to be the lazy slob way of hunting after reading this. I looked it up, 1 nat forest here allows it and the 1 I hunt does not.

Sounds like you guys have never been around real houndsmen Only a bunch of lowlifes Thats a damn shame because you don't know what you have missed out on All of my life we have hunted with hounds And all of my life Fine hounds have been prized possessions and very well taken care of Unfortunately just like with anything There is always a group that gives things a bad name
There is nothing lazy about hunting with dogs Hours upon hours of time and piles of money go into good animals Anybody that thinks different is ignorant and bases their opinions on things they know nothing about
We dont own deer dogs any more but only because of the way times have changed where i live Hunting with hounds is more about good fellowship and listening to a good race than anything
At Buckhole Kennels we raise Fine Southern Gundogs for rabbit hunters and field trialers and are very proud of it and the heritage that it represents
All of you who would so hastily make comments as damning and negative about something you know nothing about should be ashamed
Haven't seen anything about any of you pansy's that pull out a crossbow or a rifle to hunt because you lack the knowledge and woodsmanship to get it done with a bow How is that not a lazy slobs way of getting it done You cant put the work in So you take shortcuts to make up for short comings as a woodsman?Point being this As sportsmen you should support any and all legal hunting methods If you dont one of these days we will all find ourselves struggling to hang on to our opportunity to hunt PERIOD Sorry the subject raises my dander a bit For any of you that would want to participate in a hunt with hounds to see what it is really about You are welcome to come get in on a rabbit hunt and the only reason I didn't say deer hunt is cause i dont have them anymore Not because there is something wrong with the sport As a Houndsman i pride myself in trying to grow my sport and that means this is a standing invitation Just takes a PM

I hunt with a crossbow. I climbed over 1200 vertical feet yesterday looking for a bear. I’m a lot of things, but Lazy is not one them. No need to disparage other hunters when making your point.

I know this can be an emotional topic for for both sides but, let’s make sure we have a civil discussion with no name calling so the thread doesn’t get locked or posts deleted.

Sorry there bud Didn't mean to step on no toes Only responding to an entire thread of jerks dragging people who participate in a sport with a past that is deep in tradition What you should have done was read the posts and realized how wrong it is make posts ripping a sector of the sport in such a manner Antihunters are attacking us everyday and garbage like this is fuel to the fire So as far as making disparaging remarks against other hunters go Funny how people only react to the ones they feel like are pointed to them Real Sportsmen defend all aspects of our God given right to hunt Maybe i am the only one on here with that opinion but i doubt it

I was speaking to everybody involved with my post and I did read the responses above yours. To me it seems like most of them are complaining about the bad dog owners, who you yourself referred to as a “bunch of lowlifes” in your first post.

I welcome you to expound on the positives of dog hunting and good dog owners, I’m sure most would be open to hearing it. But, you would probably make a lot bigger impact if you did it without antagonizing everyone else involved. I’m sure that just like you, they are just people who hate to see dogs mistreated.

I would be glad to expand on the positives of hunting with hounds All you go to do is come on down and i will treat you or anyone else to a trip over my hounds You see this is something that we do as Houndsmen that is lacking in the deer hunters modern world Most have forgotten what it really means to be afield Greed Jealousy and the desire to kill the most dominate the majority of deer hunters Its not like that with the Houndhunter as a general rule It is much more a social family oriented sport for most Just like with a any thing we have some in our midst that cause issue But for some reason it is accepted for people to jump on public forums and bash the sport Just cant understand why that behavior seems to be acceptable Not gonna argue the point any further

Most hunting dogs are not malnourished as most folks think. Our deer dogs can run 20+/- miles a day, sometimes for multiple days in a row. You go run that much and see how much excess fat you keep on your body. I could argue you’re doing more harm over feeding your house dog than I am running a hound 20 miles in a day. There’s bad apples in every sport, good dog hunters probably hate those bad apples more than other hunters do.

To the OP there’s not much you can do, the hunter may not have communication with the GPS collar or the collar may have a dead battery depending on how long the dog has been out.
