I shared the same pain that you do when I first started using mine however; there are some adjustments that you can make. I wear a RCH on ascent, then deploy the seat at that point, and this keeps the whale tail out of the way. I don't use the leg straps, in fact I taped them up so they are not flopping. I also take my shoulder straps off at the top of the climb for increased comfort. The only complaint that I have, which is the same with an saddle hunting. It is not the easiest thing in the world to relieve yourself. (The older you get the more imperative this can become as one cup of coffee suddenly turns into 10) It can be done, but it is tricky. Love my Guido in cooler weather. Comfort is hard to beat. I really wish that they still made the model like the older one like you and I have with the exception with the large game bag (see old guido's tree web video on youtube) so you could reach stuff out of the back easier. BTW if anyone has one like this in a M and is wanting to get rid of it I would be interested.
